Will Josh Jacobs Play vs. Broncos? Latest Update on Packers RB’s Injury and Availability for Week 15

Josh Jacobs will play a key role in the Packers' offense against the Broncos if he is able to play in the big Week 15 matchup.

The Green Bay Packers take the field Sunday in a Week 15 matchup against the Denver Broncos. Their goal is to maintain the NFC North lead with four regular-season games left. However, uncertainty around Josh Jacobs could affect their chances in this decisive game.

Considerable doubt surrounds Jacobs’ medical condition, making his participation in this weekend’s game increasingly uncertain after recent updates.

What’s the Latest on Josh Jacobs?

According to the latest injury report, the running back returned to practice on Friday. However, his status is uncertain after being officially listed as “questionable.” The knee injury he suffered in recent weeks continues to affect him.

Jacobs has shown improvement in recent hours. He did not train on Wednesday or Thursday and participated only to a limited extent in Friday’s activities.

In 12 games this year, Jacobs has rushed for 817 yards and 12 touchdowns and caught 31 passes for 251 yards. In his first season with the franchise in 2024, he totaled 1,329 yards and 15 rushing touchdowns in all 17 games.

Although this season’s impact is less than 2024, the above figures show the RB’s importance to the Packers’ offense. Jordan Love’s offense is struggling in the ground game.

It is worth noting that the Broncos have one of the NFL’s best, most consistent defenses (which currently ranks 2nd in the PFSN TE Defense metric with an A- grade). The Packers must have all offensive players in top form to maximize their chances of winning this crucial game.

Another reason for fans’ confidence is the RB’s dominant record against the Broncos: 8-0, 950 total yards, and 9 TDs. He has consistently troubled Denver in recent years.

Given the uncertainty around Jacobs for Week 15, Emanuel Wilson is expected to be in higher demand against the Broncos. He now has a chance to prove himself against the team that released him three days after signing.

Wilson and Jalleel McLaughlin, both undrafted from Fort Valley State, were free agents in the 2023 minicamp. Unlike the Broncos, the Packers have effectively used RB2 this season; he rushed for over 100 yards against the Minnesota Vikings, in one of his best performances of 2025.

After facing the Broncos this Sunday, the Packers’ next decisive game in the regular season will be against the Chicago Bears (December 20) in another head-to-head matchup for the NFC North with serious playoff implications. The schedule will close against the Baltimore Ravens (December 27) and the Vikings (December 4) in one of the most competitive divisions in the NFL this season.
