The Las Vegas Raiders are struggling through a 2-4 start and face a daunting matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, who are finding their rhythm after an early-season slump. To have any chance of pulling off a win, the Raiders will need their top players on the field, but that may not happen.
Star receiver Jakobi Meyers is listed on the injury report with multiple issues, leaving his availability for Sunday in question. Here’s a closer look at his injuries and whether he can suit up on Sunday.
Jakobi Meyers Injury Update
UPDATE: Meyers is inactive and will not play against the Chiefs.
Meyers, who requested a trade before the season, has played in all six games for the Raiders so far. While his target share has dipped in recent weeks, he has remained Las Vegas’ primary receiving threat despite dealing with knee and toe injuries.
The situation became more concerning after Meyers missed back-to-back Raiders practices, raising legitimate questions about his availability for Sunday’s matchup against the Chiefs.
On Saturday, NFL insider Adam Schefter confirmed Meyers will be a game-time decision for Week 7. “Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a knee and toe injury, will work out pre-game to determine whether he can play against the Chiefs, per source,” he wrote on X.
The knee issue has been particularly concerning, as reports indicate Meyers sustained the injury during the season opener and has been playing through discomfort for several weeks. The addition of a toe injury has compounded his physical limitations and created additional uncertainty about his gameday participation.
Adding another layer of complexity to the situation, Meyers has been the subject of significant trade rumors leading up to the November 4 deadline. Multiple teams have contacted the Raiders about acquiring the veteran receiver within the past two weeks, though Las Vegas has maintained they are not interested in dealing him at this point.
Meyers, who signed a three-year deal worth $33 million with the Raiders in 2023, requested a trade in August after the team declined his extension. Despite that, he has still put in everything he has on the field, hauling in 29 receptions for 329 yards to rank 42nd in PFSN’s WR Impact metric.
Meyer’s Fantasy Outlook
Here’s what PFSN’s Kyle Soppe wrote about Meyer’s fantasy outlook for Week 7:
Jakobi Meyers came blazing out of the gates this season, but as the Geno Smith express has taken a turn for the worse, his WR1 has found it impossible to succeed (four straight weeks finishing outside of the top 36 at the position).
I wish I could sell you on optimism, but with a declining slot rate and relatively few scoring opportunities, I really can’t. He benefited early from the threat of Brock Bowers, so maybe there’s a thread to pull there when the second-year tight end is deemed healthy, but are we confident that happens any time soon?
I prefer Meyers to Tre Tucker, but the gap is closing, and neither projects as a starter in the short term for me.
