Rashee Rice Suspension: Kansas City Chiefs Star Involved in a Car Crash Accident

Rice was suspended for the first six games of the 2025 season for violating the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy following his involvement in a serious car crash during the offseason.

The incident occurred on March 30, 2024, in Dallas, when Rice was involved in a high-speed crash while driving a Lamborghini Urus SUV at 119 mph. The crash allegedly impacted a couple of other vehicles, resulting in multiple injuries.

Rice later pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony charges, including “collision involving serious bodily injury” and “racing on a highway causing bodily injury,” per NFL.com’s Grand Gordon.

Rice has not served jail time for the car accident yet

He was sentenced on July 17 to 30 days in jail and five years of probation, with the judge allowing Rice to choose when he serves the jail time. Rice also agreed to pay approximately $115,000 towards the victims’ medical expenses.

Ultimately, the NFL determined the situation warranted a six-game suspension before the new season began. Rice became eligible to return in Week 7 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

“There have been a lot of sleepless nights thinking about the damages that my actions caused, and I will continue working within my means to make sure that everyone impacted will be made whole,” Rice said in a statement in July.

“I urge everyone to mind the speed limit, drive safe and drive smart. Last and certainly not least, I am profoundly sorry for the physical damages to person and property. I fully apologize for the harm I caused to innocent drivers and their families.”

Rice also addressed the incident publicly before the season, acknowledging the seriousness of the situation and its impact on him.

“I learned just how valuable any opportunity and moment is. This right here, us being able to be on the field and be coached by Coach Andy Reid and have such a great quarterback, is honestly a gift, a blessing. I’ve completely changed. You have to learn from things like that,” Rice told reporters then, per ESPN’s Nate Taylor.

How Did Rashee Rice Perform in the 2025 Season?

Across eight appearances in 2025, Rice recorded 53 receptions for 571 yards and five receiving touchdowns, while adding 20 rushing yards and a rushing score. Despite missing seven games due to suspension and injury, Rice ranks 18th in PFSN’s WR Impact ranking with an 81.9 score and a B- grade.

Is Rashee Rice Out for the Season? Will He Play in Week 17?

Yes, Rice will not play in Week 17 and will miss the remainder of the 2025 NFL season.

The 25-year-old was placed on injured reserve after he suffered a concussion in the Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. With only two games remaining and the Chiefs officially out of playoff contention, the team decided to allow Rice to recover for next season.
