NFL fans and former players were shocked to learn this weekend that Mark Sanchez was arrested on Saturday, October 4. The entire situation spiraled out of control after it was first revealed that the former NFL QB was stabbed in a late-night altercation in downtown Indianapolis.
Once the entire story came out, police were involved and arrested Sanchez, who was still in the hospital. Upon this news breaking, FOX had no choice but to change announcers.
Chris Myers and Brady Quinn Will Now Call the Colts-Raiders Game on FOX
After Sanchez was stabbed and arrested in the span of a few hours, FOX knew there was no world where they could put him on national television. While his fate with the network has yet to be revealed, they reacted promptly to find two replacements. With less than 24 hours to prepare, Chris Myers and Brady Quinn were called to Indianapolis.
NFL Insider Adam Schefter broke the news just after 9:00 p.m. ET on October 4. While Myers and Quinn likely knew before then, the announcement wasn’t made official until around 16 hours before the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Myers is an experienced veteran, having joined ESPN back in 1988. He has worked with FOX since 1998, with roles ranging from play-by-play commentating to sideline reporting. He’s worked with some of the best in the industry, including Erin Andrews, Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, Cris Collinsworth, and Pam Olive.
Quinn, a 40-year-old ex-NFL quarterback, will join him. Quinn, the No. 22 draft pick in 2007, retired from the NFL in 2014. He began working with Fox as a College Football analyst on Big Noon Kickoff in 2019. Since then, he’s called games for college football, the XFL, and the NFL.
