The Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles have been on a heater when it comes to piling up victories over the past two seasons. But the Eagles saw their heater get cooled off on Sunday against the Denver Broncos.
The Eagles were up 17-3 at one point in the fourth quarter, but Denver, behind quarterback Bo Nix, rallied from behind to take an 18-17 lead. The Broncos added a field goal to make it 21-17 with just over a minute left in the fourth quarter.
That was the final score, giving the Eagles their first loss this season.

When Was The Last Time the Eagles Lost?
Looking at the numbers, Eagles fans know that their team has been just so solid in their games thanks to quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley.

In fact, it’s been 371 days since the Eagles lost a game that Hurts started and finished.
They’ve won 18 Hurts starts in a row if you exclude Week 16 in Washington last year (left in the 1st quarter with a concussion), with the last loss being Week 4 at Tampa Bay last season.
Hurts had a good day on the field, completing 23-of-38 passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns. How did Barkley do? It was a pretty quiet day for the Eagles RB1, who just had six carries for 30 yards and no touchdowns.
The Eagles are now 4-1 overall, 2-1 at home this season. It’s going to take Eagles fans a quick minute to get used to seeing a loss on Philadelphia’s record. The Eagles entered the fourth quarter comfortably in the lead, but Denver didn’t lie down. Nix was 24-of-39 passing for 242 yards and one touchdown.
Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins was pretty effective running against the Eagles’ defense. He had 20 carries for 79 yards and one touchdown. But that Philadelphia defense, which has played splendidly behind Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni, could not keep Denver in check when it mattered most.
The Eagles will now have to regroup after suffering a defeat and get back into it. Philadelphia knows that every opponent it will face going forward wants to be the second team to give it another defeat. Hurts, Barkley, and the Eagles’ offense, which was ranked 18th in the league based on PFSN’s Offense Impact metric, also have to get back in gear.
It will be interesting to see how Philadelphia rebounds after suffering defeat, a taste it hasn’t felt too much in a long, long time.
