For the second straight week, the Minnesota Vikings are set to have an NFL game on an international stage. After falling to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dublin, they now set their sights on rookie QB Dillon Gabriel and the Cleveland Browns in London. Thankfully for the Vikings, they have a Bye in Week 6. Before they get there, they’re set for a showdown at the iconic Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium Will Host the Vikings vs. Browns NFL Game
NFL games in London have become a standard in Roger Goodell’s mission to host as many international games as possible. Upon opening in 2019, the NFL immediately began playing games at the home of the Premier League’s Tottenham Hotspur club. Previously, the NFL hosted games at the iconic Wembley Stadium and Twickenham Stadium.
60,463 fans filled Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to see the Oakland Raiders take down the Chicago Bears, 24-21, on October 6, 2019. The following week, the Carolina Panthers defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 37-26, in front of 60,087. Crowds have continued to slightly rise over time, with the largest attendance being 61,182 for the Chicago Bears’ 35-16 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on October 13, 2024.
Fans at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium are in for a treat as they are not only getting the Vikings vs. Browns, but next week, the Denver Broncos and New York Jets will face off at the venue. For three straight weeks, the NFL is set to host regular-season games in London. The final game will see everyone head to Wembley Stadium as the Los Angeles Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars make the trip.
In total, Wembley Stadium has hosted 26 NFL games. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has hosted 10 games until now, the second most. Since the NFL began playing international games in 2007, no other stadium has hosted more than four games. Other than the 2020 season, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has hosted a pair of regular-season games each and every year.
No dates have been set, but the NFL has a contract with the stadium that runs through 2027. Once the contract expires, it’ll be interesting to see how things are handled. For now, international fans know they can expect to see the Jaguars playing at Wembley in both 2026 and 2027. The teams playing at the home of the Spurs remains a mystery.
According to PFSN’s Offense Impact metric, two of the worst offenses will be playing each other in London. The 1-3 Browns have an F grade, one that places them 30th in the league. As for the 2-2 Vikings, they have a D+, which is good for 26th.
