The season fell apart in a hurry for the Indianapolis Colts. But with Daniel Jones expected to make a full recovery, they’ll be hoping to once again find the magic that made them such a dangerous squad in the early portions of the 2025 season.
However, with a wide receiver room that has undergone some major changes, fans may have been expecting Tyler Warren to expand his role considerably. Unfortunately, an injury has derailed the offseason for the tight end.
What Is Tyler Warren’s Injury?
A first-round pick for the Colts last season, Warren was among the most highly touted prospects in the 2025 draft class. He quickly answered the bell, becoming a key cog in his team’s early success.
This year, without Michael Pittman Jr. on the roster, his role was expected to be even bigger. However, an injury scare left fans worried about his status. Earlier in the week, he left midway through a practice with a noticeable limp.
Returning to the sideline later on, he only watched without getting back on the field. Since then, he hasn’t been on the practice field, with the team detailing it as a mild groin injury. Thankfully, fans don’t have to worry too much about his status.

When Will Warren Return?
Last season as a rookie, Warren totaled 817 yards and 4 touchdowns, ranking at number 13 on PFN’s Tight End Impact Metric. This year, the hope is that he’ll take another step forward, and it doesn’t look like the injury will limit him.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport confirmed the severity of his injury to Colts icon Pat McAfee, claiming that the tight end was going to be kept out of preseason action and limited in practice to ensure a full recovery before Week 1.

“I think he’s gonna be completely good,” Rapoport confirmed before giving the news every fan in Indianapolis wanted to hear. “He’s gonna be ready for week one.”
Rapoport also offered some hefty praise for the youngster: “He’s gonna be awesome for Daniel Jones, and I expect his role to grow, and I expect him to be back after one week or so.”
Understandably, the excitement has been palpable for the Colts about what the second-year tight end can do. Moreover, the team also confirmed that he should be okay and ready to go when they open their season against the Baltimore Ravens.
That match takes place on September 13 at 1 p.m. ET.
