What Happened to Tommy DeVito? Breaking Down What the Former Giants QB Is Up to Today

Tommy DeVito’s time in New York came to an end this offseason when the Giants waived him. Here’s a look at what he’s up to now.

Tommy DeVito was one of several quarterbacks to start for the New York Giants over the past two years, but few captured the fans’ hearts like he did. An undrafted rookie, DeVito stepped in and delivered some surprising wins while earning the nickname “Tommy Cutlets” for living at home with his parents during the season.

That stint, however, ended this offseason when the Giants waived him before the final 53-man cutdown, officially closing the chapter on his time in New York.

Where Is Tommy DeVito Now?

After being waived by the Giants, DeVito didn’t stay on the market for long and was picked off the waivers by the New England Patriots. While he is a third-string quarterback behind Drake Maye and Josh Dobbs, his ability to win games makes him a reliable option in an emergency situation.

After all, the Giants’ general manager, Joe Schoen, said the team would have loved to keep DeVito in New York.

“We’ve got three on the active roster so it can be difficult sometimes…We’re happy for Tommy. He was claimed by New England. …We would have loved to have him back, but he was claimed. We wish him nothing but the best,” said Schoen.

DeVito was always going to be the odd man out in New York’s crowded quarterback room. The Giants signed Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in the offseason and selected Jaxson Dart in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, leaving DeVito without a clear path to start.

During his time with the Giants, DeVito appeared in 12 games, starting eight, and won three of them, all of which came during his rookie season. He threw for 1,358 yards with eight touchdowns and three interceptions. Despite the ups and downs, he quickly became a fan favorite for his grit and poise under pressure, as well as for his living situation.

And it’s no surprise now that DeVito says New York will always hold a special place in his heart.

“My journey with the New York Giants was more than football — it was about family, community, and a dream come true for a Jersey kid. I’ll forever be grateful to the organization and fans who welcomed me with open arms. New York will always be home.

Excited for this next chapter in New England!” he wrote.

Opportunities in New England may be limited, but DeVito is ready to make the most of every chance he gets. With a track record of stepping up as an underdog, he brings valuable experience to the Patriots’ quarterback room.
