Josh Reynolds has been a journeyman wide receiver throughout his NFL career, having played for six different teams across nine seasons. Some of his most productive campaigns occurred during the three years he spent with the Detroit Lions. He is no longer with the franchise, but he remains in the league with a new team this year.
Where Is Josh Reynolds Now After Leaving Lions?
Reynolds is a former reliable wide receiver for the Lions, but currently plays for the New York Jets during the 2025 NFL season. He has recorded just 11 receptions for 101 yards this year, essentially playing a non-factor role in their offense, but his days in Detroit were much more productive.
The veteran joined the Lions late in the 2021 season and immediately made an impact. He made five starts in seven games, 29 receptions for 396 yards and two touchdowns. This was enough not only to secure a roster spot for the next two seasons but also to establish him as a regular in their starting lineup during that time.
Reynolds started 24 games in 31 appearances during the 2022 and 2023 regular seasons, backing up Jared Goff and his prolific passing game. He was a factor in their success, totaling 78 receptions for 1,087 yards and eight touchdowns. He was also a factor for the Lions in the playoffs following the 2023 season, recording eight receptions for 132 yards and a touchdown across three postseason games.
Prior to joining the Lions, Reynolds was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in 2017 and spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the team. He then joined the Tennessee Titans in 2021, but lasted less than a full season before departing for the Lions, where he stayed through the conclusion of the 2023 season.
He split 2024 between the Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars before joining the Jets ahead of the 2025 season. He has started three games in five appearances this year, but the rebuilding Jets have been favoring their younger options recently. Most notably, they acquired Adonai Mitchell and John Metchie at the trade deadline, essentially leaving Reynolds as an afterthought.
The best of his five games this season came back in Week 7 when he earned a 72.6 score in PFSN’s Impact Rankings. This was also the last time he caught a pass for the Jets, who have been playing without Garrett Wilson recently. Their superstar’s absence hasn’t been enough for Reynolds to earn himself a role in their offense.
