What Happened to Dalton Kincaid? Breaking Down Why the Bills Star Isn’t Playing in Week 12 vs. Texans

Dalton Kincaid didn't play in Week 11. He lost the race against time heading into their game against Houston and won't be suiting up for the Bills.

The Buffalo Bills aren’t quite the juggernaut they’ve been over the last few seasons, but they keep getting big wins. They’ve disappointed at times, but with Josh Allen leading the offense, it’s safe to expect plenty of victories. There is concern about the offense due to the lack of dependable, consistent weapons. One pass catcher that will be missing on Thursday night is TE Dalton Kincaid.

Dalton Kincaid’s Status for Week 12

Kincaid will not be suiting up for Buffalo against the Texans on Thursday Night Football. Kincaid is struggling with a hamstring problem that held him out of Week 11 against the Buccaneers and now against Houston on Thursday. His status for Week 13 will be determined closer to their next game as he is likely out on a week-to-week basis.

Kincaid has racked up 29 catches for 448 yards to go with a team-high four touchdowns. Kincaid is the third-highest-ranked tight end in PFSN’s TE Impact score. His 87.1 grade leaves him among the best tight ends in the 2025 season.

In Week 11, the Bills’ offense didn’t skip a beat without Kincaid. They started slow with an interception thrown by Allen, but six Allen touchdowns later, the Bills pulled away from Tampa Bay in a must-win game to keep close in the divisional race with the New England Patriots. Weapons are crucial to an offense, but when the Bills can utilize Allen as a rushing threat, it opens up the game, regardless of who is catching passes.

Of Allen’s six scores, he ran three of them himself and threw for the other three. Allen is simply unstoppable at times. Although they did just fine without Kincaid, it would have helped to have Kincaid out there. Dawson Knox, the next tight end up, popped up with three catches. Knox isn’t unfamiliar to being part of the offense as he often gets reps when Kincaid is healthy, too.

The Bills were also without Keon Coleman. This was different because Coleman was held out of the game for disciplinary reasons. Coleman missed a meeting and wasn’t allowed to play against Tampa Bay. It didn’t matter, and now they look to get a motivated Coleman back for their primetime matchup against Houston.

The Bills have their work cut out for them to catch the Patriots. They sit 1.5 games behind New England with only one game against each other left. The early-season loss to the Patriots will sting because the Bills would have been in the driver’s seat in the AFC East had they won that game.

The Bills have some challenging games remaining and will need players like Kincaid to get healthy if they want to surge ahead and claim the division and the potential No. 1 seed in the AFC. But if all else fails, they have Josh Allen, and sometimes that is enough to win games.
