While not as time-consuming as Day 3, the time to select will be shorter than Round 1, putting the crunch on franchises to decide. The start of Round 2 will be even more intriguing, with presumed first-round talent not being selected.

Draft Order for Rounds 2-3

A few teams are sitting after the first round licking their chops for the start of Round 2. While stars are found on Day 1, rosters are strengthened on Day 2. Five teams have yet to make a pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, which will likely change tonight. Will any of them move up to get their guy?

Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions will make their third and fourth picks in Round 2 after drafting Alabama RB Jahmyr Gibbs and Iowa LB Jack Campbell. Seattle also joins them with four selections within the top 63 picks after selecting Illinois CB Devon Witherspoon and Ohio State WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Who else will these two up-and-coming rosters bring in to continue to become more competitive in the NFC?

Prospects To Watch on Day 2

Three quarterbacks were selected within the first four picks in Round 1. As expected, the Carolina Panthers selected Bryce Young first overall, followed by C.J. Stroud at No. 2 to the Texans. Then, the Colts shocked many by selecting Anthony Richardson with the fourth overall pick. What’s going on with Will Levis?

Given the pre-draft hype, the Kentucky QB was not selected on the first night in an exciting twist. Quite a few teams could be ready to draft Levis within the first half of Round 2, but the slide out of the first round was surprising.

MORE: 2023 NFL Draft Scouting Reports

While the QB room is thinning for the earlier rounds, one name that will likely go on Day 2 is Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker. The 25-year-old QB probably will not start in 2023 as he recovers from a torn ACL suffered late in the Volunteers’ 2022 season. This means he will likely be 26 before starting an NFL game.

While age is concerning, his talent will aid a team in the future. Franchises like the Lions or Vikings, who have a plan in place at QB for 2023, might be more likely to take the chance on Hooker in Rounds 2 or 3.
