The NFL is reaching the home stretch. With just three weeks remain, and we still have plenty of strong teams at the top, but we are also seeing some teams fading a little as the season reaches its conclusion. Let’s take a look at where everyone ranks in our Week 15 NFL Power Rankings.
1. Baltimore Ravens (11-2, Last Week: 1)
Week 14 Result: Defeated Buffalo, 24-17
It was another week where the defense needed to step up for the Ravens, and they came up big, especially on the final offensive play from the Bills. Marcus Peters has been a huge addition to the Ravens’ secondary since being acquired from the Rams. One more national spotlight for the Ravens before the playoffs as they have a short week before taking on the Jets on Thursday night.
2. San Francisco 49ers (11-2, Last Week: 3)
Week 14 Result: Defeated New Orleans, 48-46
Wow, that was a lot of fun. This one may go down as the game of the year. This was a huge win for the 49ers, who take two out of three from the gauntlet of Green Bay, Baltimore, and New Orleans and now are in control for the No. 1 seed in the NFC. If they win out, the road to the Super Bowl runs through Levi’s Stadium.
3. Seattle Seahawks (10-3, Last Week: 4)
Week 14 Result: Lost to Los Angeles Rams, 28-12
The Seahawks stumbled in Los Angeles on Sunday night, coming off the strong showing against the Vikings in Week 13. However, the good news is that Seattle is still very much in play for the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Win their next two, and then they host the 49ers for that top seed in Week 17.
4. New Orleans Saints (10-3, Last Week: 4)
Week 14 Result: Lost to San Francisco, 48-46
You can’t really ask for much more from the Saints offensively. It’s not every day 46 points is not enough to win a football game. This game just showed how good the NFC playoffs are going to be in a few weeks, and hopefully, we get a 49ers-Saints rematch. The Saints are obviously still very good, but if the season ended today, they would be hosting a Wild Card game.
5. Green Bay Packers (10-3, Last Week: 6)
Week 14 Result: Defeated Washington, 20-15
It wasn’t as dominant of a performance as some may have thought, but the Packers came away with their tenth win of the season. With the other results in the NFC, they have now moved into the second seed in the NFC playoffs with their victory. They can just about put an end to Chicago’s playoff hopes next week, which should add even more motivation for this team.
6. Kansas City Chiefs (9-4, Last Week: 7)
Week 14 Result: Defeated New England, 23-16
The Chiefs stifled the Patriots’ offense all day long and came up with a huge stop on fourth down late in the game to seal their fourth straight AFC West crown. This victory also keeps their hopes for a first-round bye alive. They hope to avoid the trap the Texans fell into when the Broncos come to town in Week 15.
7. New England Patriots (10-3, Last Week: 5)
Week 14 Result: Lost to Kansas City, 23-16
The Patriots were on the wrong end of some badly missed calls by the referees in this one. However, the bottom line is that the offense still isn’t where it needs to be. Fortunately, they get the Bengals next week, so a bounceback is expected. The crunch will come against Buffalo in Week 16, with the division hanging in the balance. However, all that said, while they may not get the No. 1 seed, these are still the Patriots, and they will be dangerous in January.
8. Minnesota Vikings (9-4, Last Week: 9)
Week 14 Result: Defeated Detroit, 20-7
Minnesota bounced back from the Monday Night Football loss in Seattle with an easy time against the seemingly lifeless Lions. Minnesota is going to need some help to win the division, but are still in a good position to at least get a wild card.
