The New York Giants are giving the Eagles another run for their money in Week 8 after taking them down earlier in the season. The Giants were dealt a massive blow in the second quarter after Cam Skattebo was carted off the field with a gruesome injury. He already scored in the first half and was playing very well before his season likely ended.
Cam Skattebo Suffers Terrible Ankle Injury
Skattebo was targeted over the middle by Jaxson Dart, and the ball was batted away. His ankle rolled up under the Eagles defender, facing a direction it wasn’t supposed to.
Take a look at the injury here. It is very graphic, as a warning.
Oh No: Cam Skattebo is down and hurt. This looks really bad.
He is definitely done for the season…

Skattebo was surrounded by his teammates as he was put on the cart. The gruesome injury visibly shook his teammates. This is very unfortunate for the Giants, as Skattebo was making his impact felt in his rookie season. Although it is unconfirmed, it is very likely that he will not see the field until the 2026 season.
Skattebo is the 21st-ranked running back in PFSN’s Running Back Impact score with a grade of 77.5. He’s been a huge boost for the Giants backfield, but now the reponsibilities will be shifted to Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary.
Prior to the injury, Skattebo had 55+ rushing yards in his last five games, matching the longest such streak by a rookie Giant in the 2000s. He joined Saquon Barkley on this list of rookie Giants. Skattebo was the 21st-ranked running back in the league based on PFSN’s RB Impact metric.
The Giants are trailing the Eagles by two possessions at the half. They are going to have to find a way to rally for their teammate if they want to steal a victory. The Giants offense has been relatively quiet and is going to be searching for answers without their emerging running back.
The Eagles have come for revenge today, having been embarrassed by the Giants on national television. They want to make a statement, but the Giants need to come out of the half and avoid rolling over to Philly. It will be hard for the team to focus after losing a teammate to such a brutal injury, but unfortunately, they have to keep on going if they want to keep their season afloat.
Losing Skattebo and star Malik Nabers to season ending injuries is far from ideal for New York. They were already thin on offensive weapons to give to Dart and now it has just gotten worse. The rest of the season outlook looks much darker than it would have last week before their fourth quarter implosion, and now they are staring at a potential 2-6 without their two most dynamic offensive threats.
