WATCH: Caleb Williams Makes Throw of the Year As Cardiac Bears Force OT vs. Rams

Bears QB Caleb Williams pulled another rabbit out of his hat with an amazing fourth-quarter TD pass that has to be seen to believe.

Move over Ernie Banks and William “The Refrigerator” Perry, Caleb Williams might be the new King of Chicago.

The Bears’ quarterback, on an incredible, improbable play, threw a touchdown strike to Cole Kmet, tying the NFC Divisional Round game against the Los Angeles Rams at 17-17 with just seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Caleb Williams Completes Improbable TD Pass for Bears

Williams took the snap and was simply being chased down by Rams defenders left and right. Williams must have run at least 20 yards backwards, but he was able to get his body in position to heave the ball toward the end zone.

After he let the ball go, everyone in Soldier Field was hoping to see another fourth-quarter comeback completed for the Bears.

They were not disappointed. Williams’ pass was caught by Kmet in the corner of the end zone after he’d been left all alone by a Rams player. Once the tight end caught the ball and scored the TD, he stepped out, dropped the ball, and gave a baseball bat swing like he just hit a home run.

After watching the Williams play, former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III posted on X, “Caleb Williams in back-to-back weeks has 2 of the best throws I have ever seen in NFL Playoff History.”

Well, for Bears fans and those who have seen Williams perform fourth-quarter miracles, they were not disappointed one bit.

But, in the overtime period, Williams threw what might be a costly interception and gave the Rams the ball back. The Bears quarterback finished the game 23-of-42 passing for 257 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions.

He also rushed for 40 yards on five carries. Unfortunately, Williams and DJ Moore were not on the same page in overtime, and the interception from the Bears quarterback ended up deciding the game.

The Rams, though, pulled out a 20-17 victory in overtime on a Harrison Mevis 42-yard field goal. They will now face the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game, and it is arguably the matchup between two of the best teams in the NFL this season.

According to the PFSN NFL QB Impact Metric, Williams had an impact score of 78.1 and graded out to a B+. As for Stafford, his impact score from Sunday night’s game was 73.7, and he graded out to a C.
