The Washington Commanders are suffering some tough times at the wide receiver position with Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel Sr. dealing with injuries. But the Commanders made a move on Thursday to shore up that position.
Washington went out and picked up a former first-round draft pick and has plans for him.

Commanders Add WR Treylon Burks
Treylon Burks, who was a first-round draft choice by the Tennessee Titans, is now a member of the Commanders. He’s being signed to the team’s practice squad, but don’t expect him to be there long.
The injury situation at wide receiver has become dire for Commanders head coach Dan Quinn. The team needed some type of proven NFL talent at the position and hope that Burks can provide some help right away.

“Sources: Former #Titans first-round WR Treylon Burks is expected to sign with the #Commanders practice squad, with an elevation likely coming quickly,” NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Thursday afternoon. “Burks had visited Washington and the #Broncos. A low-risk, high-reward addition, Burks played in a similar offense in college.”
Burks played his college ball at Arkansas and was the Titans’ first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He played for the Titans between 2022-24 and had 53 receptions for 599 yards and one touchdown. Burks’ best season so far was his rookie season, when he had 33 catches for 444 yards and his one TD catch.
Last season, Burks only played in five games with four catches for 34 yards and no TDs. Burks also has some experience as a punt returner, but the Commanders probably will stick with him at the WR position.
The 3-3 Commanders are coming off of a last-second 25-24 loss to the Chicago Bears on Monday night at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Md. Samuel, who has been dealing with a heel injury, played through the pain and caught a few passes while also rushing once for minus-1 yards.
In the PFSN NFL Offense Impact metrics, the Commanders have an 87.6 Offense Impact Score and grades out at B+. Washington has the fifth-ranked offense in the 2025 NFL season, according to these metrics. Burks hopes that he can provide a boost to Daniels’ passing plans as the season rolls along.
