Should fantasy managers be worried about New York Giants RB Tyrone Tracy Jr.'s injury? Here's the latest on his health.

What’s the latest on New York Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr.’s injury status? Should you select him in your fantasy football draft? Here’s everything you need to know.

    Tyrone Tracy Jr. Injury Update

During the second week of August, Tyrone Tracy Jr. was carted off the Giants’ practice field, and the rumors spread like wildfire.

Reports surfaced that Tracy was in an air cast as the medical team looked to immobilize the injury, and our analysts began to mourn the loss of a popular running back sleeper.

Fortunately, the rookie was able to avoid a ruined season before it ever started and was training on the practice field within just a few days of the injury. It certainly seems like he’ll be ready to go for Week 1.

Devin Singletary was brought in this offseason to lead the Giants’ backfield, and I expect him to enter the season with that role.

That said, what proof do we have that Singletary is better than the league average? He’s been viable as part of explosive offenses in the past, but this is a different situation, and it’s clear that Tracy is more in New York’s long-term plans than the soon-to-be 27-year-old.

Joe Pepe’s Fantasy Outlook for Tracy

Tracy has an ADP of 164th overall. We don’t typically guide you toward players with injuries during training camp. However, Tracy’s profile and landing spot can be the golden ticket to fantasy football this season.

Thankfully, if you draft him, the low cost allows you to pivot after a few weeks if necessary without much in the form of opportunity cost.

Furthermore, Singletary has never been a workhorse back. This season will test the limits of his volume. He also isn’t breaking off chunk gains consistently. Tracy’s big-play ability can help a Giants offense begging for explosives, creating more opportunities for the rookie.

Thankfully, this dart throw has a bye week that doesn’t cause us concern. The Giants enjoy their bye week in Week 11. Although it’s later in the season, we can survive that hit, as we should have other running backs that are higher than him on our depth charts anyway.

Strategically, Tracy is a solid late-round bet with playoff-impacting potential.
