‘Reunion Is Likely’ — Tyreek Hill to Chiefs Rumors Reignite After Kansas City Loads Up on Defense in NFL Draft

Wide receiver Tyreek Hill might be in line for a reunion with the Kansas City Chiefs, giving Patrick Mahomes yet another target downfield.

Wide receiver Tyreek Hill saw his 2025 NFL season come to a brutal end with the Miami Dolphins as a knee injury sent him to the sidelines.

With Hill not expected to be a part of the Dolphins’ plans in 2026, could he find himself back in Chiefs Kingdom as part of the Kansas City Chiefs?

Tyreek Hill Might Be in Line for Chiefs Reunion

Hill spent his first six NFL seasons with the Chiefs and has been with the Dolphins for the past four seasons. Every season that Hill played in Kansas City saw him become a Pro Bowl selection.

Then, Hill earned Pro Bowl recognition in his first two seasons in South Florida. When playing in Kansas City, Hill had 479 receptions for 6,630 yards and 56 touchdown catches. As a key receiver for Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Hill had 4 of his 6 career 1,000-plus-yard receiving seasons.

How logical is a return to Kansas City for Hill, who could become yet another top receiver under Chiefs head coach Andy Reid?

“It’s been a quiet offseason for Hill, who is still working his way back from last year’s horrific, season-ending knee injury,” CBS Sports reported in an overview of the top free agents available in the NFL.

“At age 32 and coming off a major injury, Hill’s best chance at playing this season might be back in Kansas City in a complementary role,” the report added. “The Chiefs aren’t lacking at receiver, but can you really ever have too many wideouts in today’s NFL? The answer is no, which is one reason why a Hill-Chiefs reunion is likely. Hill’s rapport with Patrick Mahomes doesn’t hurt, either.”

According to the PFSN NFL WR Impact metrics, which are measured through the regular season, Hill didn’t have enough data to land on the board.

Jaylen Waddle had an impact score of 80.9 and graded out to a B- for the Dolphins, while teammate Malik Washington had an impact score of 68.3 and graded out to a D+.

Waddle had 64 catches for 910 yards and 6 touchdowns for the Dolphins, averaging 9.1 yards per target in the 2025 season.

Miami is undergoing a revamp of its team as Jeff Hafley enters his first season as the Dolphins’ new head coach. The Dolphins hired Hafley after firing Mike McDaniel. Hafley probably is looking to fix some things on the Miami offensive side of the ball, and Hill isn’t factored into those plans.

Mahomes probably would welcome Tyreek Hill back as he could look downfield and connect yet again with “Cheetah” running routes. Hill’s health, though, will be something to observe in the weeks ahead.
