As the Kansas City Chiefs evaluate how to get back to the postseason after missing it for the first time in 10 seasons, speculation has turned to a familiar name. This week, a former All-Pro wide receiver was made available, prompting a former NFL executive to outline why Kansas City should seriously consider a reunion.
Louis Riddick Highlights Why Chiefs Should Reunite With Tyreek Hill
During Wednesday’s appearance on “First Take,” Louis Riddick laid out a detailed case for why Tyreek Hill and Kansas City could benefit from reuniting.
“I think it’s the Chiefs because not only do they need him, he needs them,” Riddick said. “He needs this kind of structure.”
Riddick pointed to the return of offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy as a significant factor. Bieniemy rejoined the organization this offseason after previously serving as Kansas City’s offensive coordinator during its Super Bowl run. Riddick described him as a coach who enforces standards and accountability throughout the offense.

“Accountability on that side of the football… that’s something that Eric really specializes in,” Riddick said. “That’s exactly what Tyreek needs, what this organization needs.”
Hill, who turns 32 on March 1, is recovering from a dislocated knee and torn ACL suffered in Week 4 against the New York Jets. Before the injury, he totaled 21 receptions for 265 yards and 1 touchdown in four games. Riddick emphasized that even a reduced version of Hill would alter how defenses approach Kansas City.
“If he’s even 75, 80% of what he was before, that’s something they don’t have right now,” Riddick said. “Xavier Worthy has the same kind of straight-line speed, but Tyreek is different.”
Hill Reunion Could Restore Chiefs’ Explosive Offense
Across 10 NFL seasons split between Kansas City and Miami, Hill has recorded 819 receptions for 11,363 receiving yards and 83 touchdowns. He has also added 819 rushing yards and 7 rushing scores. His most productive season came in 2023, when he posted 1,799 receiving yards and earned first-team All-Pro honors.

Since Hill’s departure following the 2021 season, Kansas City’s offense has shifted in identity. Defenses have increasingly concentrated coverage on Travis Kelce, limiting explosive plays and forcing Patrick Mahomes into tighter throwing windows. The vertical element that once defined the unit has been far less consistent.
Riddick noted that Hill’s prior familiarity with Mahomes and Bieniemy would reduce any transition period.
“Patrick knows what he can get out of Tyreek Hill immediately,” Riddick said. “Eric knows how to use him immediately.”
Riddick also referenced that general manager Brett Veach previously attempted to retain Hill before he signed with Miami, making what he described as a competitive offer at the time.
Kansas City must now determine whether to pursue a reunion with its former All-Pro receiver. There is a lot up in the air in Kansas City as Mahomes recovers from a late-season ACL/LCL injury. Still, Hill rejoining the Chiefs would provide instant juice.
