Tyreek Hill to Chiefs Labeled a ‘No-Brainer,’ but NFL Analyst Names NFC Team That Could Steal Him Away

Tyreek Hill's potential return to the Chiefs is labeled a no-brainer, but an aggressive NFC franchise could steal the receiver.

The NFL offseason rumor mill is in full force and while many of the rumblings are related to the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft, there’s also plenty of interest in where eight-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Tyreek Hill will sign.

After being released from the Miami Dolphins in February of 2026, the idea of a blockbuster reunion with the Kansas City Chiefs is gaining serious traction. However, despite the overwhelming logic pointing toward Arrowhead Stadium, an aggressive NFC suitor could emerge as a legitimate threat to disrupt the fairy-tale homecoming.

Could Tyreek Hill Return to the Kansas City Chiefs for One Last Dance?

For many NFL insiders, Hill returning to the franchise where he established his Hall of Fame-caliber resume is the most logical outcome. The Chiefs offer a championship pedigree, a generational quarterback in Patrick Mahomes, and an offensive system perfectly calibrated for Hill’s game-breaking speed.

Hill missed the majority of the 2025 season with a devastating knee injury that required surgery and left him on the injured reserve. Prior to his injury, he caught 21 passes for 265 yards and a touchdown across four games for Miami. In 2023, Hill posted a PFSN WR Impact metric score of 99.6, which ranked No. 1 among all receivers for the season.

PFSN Deputy Editor Alex Kennedy weighed in on the Chiefs rumors on a recent episode of “Football Debate Club,” emphasizing that the stars are aligning for a reunion, especially given the team’s coaching staff dynamics.

“I think this is a no-brainer. It has to be the Chiefs,” Kennedy said when asked the best landing for Hill. “I think if anyone can get the most out of Tyreek, it’s going to be Andy Reid. They just brought back Eric Bieniemy, so they’re kind of getting the band back together, talking about a ‘Last Dance’ type of thing with Travis Kelce back and Bieniemy back. It’s going to be the best place for Tyreek to have the best season, I think.”

Why the Chiefs’ Culture Could Overcome Tyreek Hill’s Off-Field Risks

Beyond the playbook, there is a crucial off-field component dictating Hill’s potential market. Recent controversies have made some front offices hesitant to commit to the dynamic playmaker.

Kennedy points out that Kansas City’s established culture, strong leadership, and rich history with Hill provide a unique safety net that other organizations simply cannot replicate.

“Right now, Tyreek has off-field issues that are coming up, too, so there’s certain teams that I think are scared to bring Tyreek in,” added Kennedy. “The Chiefs know him. I think if there’s one organization that can kind of keep Tyreek on track and make sure he has a good season and doesn’t get in trouble or… screw things up, I think it’s the Chiefs. I think the familiarity there wins out.”

Despite Kennedy’s strong argument for the Chiefs, the NFL is a league driven by bold moves and deep pockets. An aggressive team like the Washington Commanders, with abundant salary cap space and a desire to supercharge the offense around Jayden Daniels, could table a financial package that the cap-strapped Chiefs simply cannot match.

The Commanders are PFSN’s Jacob Infante’s pick to sign Hill.

“You’re looking at a team who still has the second-most cap space in the NFL at over $49.5 million dollars. They don’t have a proven, high-level complementary weapon alongside Terry McLaurin. I mean, even with their aggression last year, a lot of [their struggles last year] were due to injuries to key players.

“Don’t forget these guys were in the NFC Championship Game just two seasons ago. I think they can get back to the playoffs with how aggressive they were [and] fixing that defense.”

Will the undeniable allure of a “Last Dance” with Andy Reid, Eric Bieniemy, and Travis Kelce bring the “Cheetah” back to his roots, or will an ambitious team successfully hijack the narrative?
