Tutu Atwell has provided the Los Angeles Rams with depth at wide receiver during the 2025 NFL season. The Rams are set to take on the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game, but Atwell is officially listed as inactive. Here’s why he will be unavailable in the final game before the Super Bowl.
Why Isn’t Tutu Atwell Playing for Rams in NFC Championship Game Against Seahawks?
Atwell has not appeared on the Rams’ injury report at any point this week ahead of their matchup against the Seahawks to determine the NFC champion. He is still officially inactive for the contest, which has been listed as a coach’s decision, as he has not suffered any injury that would force him to be sidelined.
He is joined by running back Jarquez Hunter and tight end Nick Vannett as the three offensive skill-position players on the active roster who are inactive for this game. Offensive lineman Beaux Limmer also rounds out the list of offensive inactives, while cornerback Derion Kendrick and defensive lineman Larrell Murchison are the two inactive defenders. Stetson Bennett IV is also listed as inactive, though he is serving as the emergency third-string quarterback.

Atwell has had his moments contributing for the Rams this season, totaling six receptions for 192 yards and a touchdown, but the NFC Championship Game will not be one of those opportunities. The Rams’ passing attack primarily runs through Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, with Jordan Whittington and Konata Mumpfield serving as the other wide receivers who regularly contribute in complementary roles.
Nacua led all players this season with 129 receptions and 166 targets, and his heavy workload accounts for much of the passing volume from Matthew Stafford, the favorite to win the NFL MVP award this year. The superstar wide receiver also tops all players at his position in PFSN’s WR Impact Rankings, making his production a central focal point of the Rams’ offense.
With their top wide receivers firmly entrenched in their roles and the Rams seemingly preferring other depth options, Atwell has been inactive for his second consecutive playoff game. That trend suggests that if the Rams defeat the Seahawks, and barring injury, Atwell would likely be inactive for the Super Bowl as well. The Rams will go on the road in pursuit of that outcome, with the winner set to face the New England Patriots.
