The Cincinnati Bengals traded veteran linebacker Logan Wilson to the Dallas Cowboys in return for a seventh-round pick. This move further weakens a Bengals defense that is coming off giving game-winning touchdowns in back-to-back weeks.
More than that, it also left a big void in the locker room.

Trey Hendrickson Opens Up on Logan Wilson’s Departure
When asked about Wilson’s move to Arlington, star defensive end Trey Hendrickson got a bit emotional. “I have nothing but respect for the way he handled himself as a professional in times of adversity,” Hendrickson said, per Sports Illustrated.
He added, “Faith, family, football, in that order, I think he established that. He’s a good, God-fearing man. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him as a football player and what he’s done in his career. And I have even more respect for how he carries himself as a man and now a captain.”
Even so, Hendrickson is well aware that this is a business first and foremost, and he’ll stay close to Wilson even if they’re not teammates anymore. “He’s a good friend of mine. Friendships don’t just dissolve in the National Football League. He’ll be a friend for a life,” Hendrickson continued.
“I wish him nothing but success. There’s nothing but air and opportunity in Dallas for him, and it’s good that he’s going to be back in a linebacker role. That’s where he deserves to be,” he concluded.
Hendrickson’s Future Is a Question Mark
While watching the Bengals trade veterans wasn’t a surprise, the fact that they chose to hold onto Hendrickson is a big shock. Of course, that’s not from a football standpoint, as he’s still one of the best pass-rushers in the game, even if his numbers aren’t as impressive this season.
His contract stalemate with the Bengals was well-documented, and given how personal things became in the end, it’s hard to believe he’ll re-sign with them at the end of the season. However, fans now do not want him to be released.

Multiple teams reportedly reached out to the Bengals to try to work out a trade, but they never seemed eager to let him go. Now, he can just walk away in free agency, unless they place him under the franchise tag, a move that could cost them roughly $34.8 million.

Hendrickson agreed to a restructured contract and sought compensation as one of the top EDGE defenders in the league. He’s posted a 76.8 score in PFSN’s EDGE impact metrics this season, so he clearly still has something left in the tank.
