The Jacksonville Jaguars’ 30-29 overtime victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday was more than just an important win in the standings. It was a show of heart from quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who played through an illness to lead his team to a comeback victory on the road. Lawrence had appeared on the injury report due to illness before the game.

What Did Trevor Lawrence’s Wife Write About Jaguars QB Playing Through Illness?
Following the game, Marissa Lawrence posted on Instagram to praise her husband’s grit. Sharing a Jacksonville Jaguars post, which had a picture of him mid-game, she wrote:
“I couldn’t be more proud of Trev.. we both were up allllll night so sick and I’ve been down baddd today I have no clue how he went and played a game… much deserved win. It’s the small things people don’t know or always see but I have to brag on him because this is just crazy!!! You’re so strong and such a good leader. Proud to be in your corner.”

After the game, coach Liam Coen detailed just how difficult the situation had been. “He was pale as a ghost throughout the whole game,” Coen said, via ESPN. “Obviously the frustrating interception down on the goal line, but man I’m very proud of the way he responded, the way that he played, especially later on when the game really was on the line.”

Nevertheless, Lawrence turned in a spectacular performance for Jacksonville. He completed 23 of 34 passes for 220 yards, threw one interception, and ran for two touchdowns, including a one-yard quarterback sneak that decided the game in overtime. Lawrence played especially well in the second half and extra period, going 11-for-15 for 120 yards while leading several scoring drives.
“I feel a little bit better after getting the win,” Lawrence said. “That was a fun one, so I’ll definitely feel better on this plane ride back, but it will be nice to rest up and get off my feet a little bit.”
Jacksonville trailed 23-20 late in regulation before kicker Cam Little hit a 48-yard field goal to send the game into overtime. In the extra period, Lawrence guided the Jaguars downfield and dove across the goal line for the final touchdown. The Raiders then scored a touchdown of their own, but defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton deflected Geno Smith’s two-point conversion attempt to secure the win.
Jacksonville improved to 5-3 with the win, breaking a two-game losing streak. Lawrence, who missed seven games last season due to shoulder and concussion issues, has started every contest in 2025. After the Las Vegas Raiders game, he sits at 1,840 yards on a 59.7% completion rate, nine touchdowns, and six interceptions. He also has 137 yards on the ground with four scores. His PFSN Impact Score is 64.5 with a grade of D. He ranks 31st among all quarterbacks.
