Kansas City Chiefs’ future Hall of Fame tight end Travis Kelce had a busy offseason. He wasn’t just working on his game and trying to prepare for his 14th NFL season; he was also busy planning his wedding to Taylor Swift.
Yet in the aftermath of the wedding, some internet sleuths thought the 36-year-old looked a bit pudgy. Now, Kelce is opening up about how those comments made him feel.
Travis Kelce Comments on Offseason ‘Fat Shaming’
As the now-husband of a music icon, it wasn’t the first the first time Kelce was in the headlines for something that isn’t related to performance. It won’t be his last either.
While Kelce may have shown a few extra pounds during the offseason, it’s not like the Chiefs were asking him to play football during his downtime. But what did Kelce think of the internet essentially “fat-shaming” him?
Kelce went on his “New Heights” podcast and let everyone know what he really thought of those comments. In short, Kelce thought they were “pure comedy.”

“That [expletive] was so [expletive] funny,” Kelce said. “Reading some of these comments on that clip going viral and the fat-shaming, saying I got a dad-bod. It’s all social media just having fun. I even laugh at this [expletive]. It’s [expletive] pure comedy.”
Clearly, Kelce wasn’t bothered by the comments. If anything, he only found joy in them.

Kelce has put the wedding and maybe carrying a few extra pounds in the offseason behind him. Now that the Chiefs are set to kick off their season opener on Monday, Sept. 14, against the Denver Broncos, Kelce appears ready to roll again.
He may be getting up there in age, but Kelce remains an effective player catching passes from Patrick Mahomes in Andy Reid’s offense. Last season, he earned a PFN TE Impact Score of 80.6, which still graded as the fifth-best tight end in the NFL.
The older he gets, the tougher and tougher it will be for Kelce to remain an impact player. But it appears as though he still has what it takes to help the Chiefs return to a playoff race after missing out on the postseason in 2025.
Soon enough, fans will get a chance to find out just how much Kelce still has left in the tank, only now he’ll have a new type of ring on his finger in addition to the three Super Bowls he’s won with the Chiefs.
