Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce put all of that retirement talk in the rear-view mirror on Monday as he signed a new deal with the Chiefs. Starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes will have one of his favorite targets coming back for a little more playing time in the NFL. What does Kelce’s contract look like?
Chiefs Lock In Travis Kelce for Another Run With Patrick Mahomes
As news of Kelce’s contract became public, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport shared on X, “Back for more: #Chiefs future Hall of Fame TE Travis Kelce is expected to return to Kansas City for a 14th season, a message that’s been delivered to teams who will want him,” Rapoport wrote in an earlier post. “At 36, Kelce’s play was at its usual level, landing him in the Pro Bowl. He’s loyal to KC & will stay.”
According to Rapoport, the Chiefs are giving Travis Kelce $12M in 2026 with a chance to make $15M. Spotrac lists the deal as a one-year contract.
Per PFSN NFL TE Impact Metrics, measured through the regular season, Kelce had an impact score of 80.6 (B-). Kelce played in 17 games and was targeted 108 times last season and posted 76 catches for 851 yards and 5 touchdown catches.
He was on the field last season for 862 offensive snaps in the Chiefs’ offensive schemes under former Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy. Kelce averaged 11.2 yards per reception, too.

In 13 NFL seasons, all with the Chiefs, Kelce has recorded 1,080 receptions for 13,002 receiving yards and 82 touchdown receptions. Career-wise, Kelce averages 12.0 yards per reception, too.
Many NFL observers believe that Kelce, once he’s done playing, will find himself in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. For now, though, Kelce has given himself even more time to add to his already incredible career statistics. He’s been selected for 11 straight Pro Bowl appearances and has four first-team All-Pro honors, too.
In addition to all that, Kelce has been a part of three Super Bowl-winning teams in Kansas City. All in all, Kelce has quite a résumé to share with people when he’s done in the NFL.
