Kelce has been one of the best tight ends in NFL history, essentially making him a lock for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. His entire career has been spent with the Chiefs, but many believed it would end during the 2026 offseason.
He’s not getting any younger and has also gone through major life changes in recent years. This includes starting a highly successful podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce, who retired from the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024, and getting engaged to Swift.
This sparked much of the speculation that he would move on to the next phase of his life beyond the football field, but his relationship with Swift actually pushed him in the other direction. He described during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show how her influence inspired him to keep playing.
“We share the same love for what we do, and fortunately we’ve had this desire since we were kids in our selective professions. It’s amazing to see her keep going to the table … Still having that love and joy for what she does. That’s motivating for anybody to see … Something like that definitely motivates me to say, ‘You know what, I’m not done either’ … I’ve still got some juice left to play this game,” Kelce explained.

Swift is one of the most successful musicians ever, and her dedication to her craft apparently inspired Kelce to continue his legendary career. This disproves what many assumed: that their upcoming wedding, planned for this year, would push him toward retirement. Instead, the opposite proved true.
Many have pointed out that he has regressed in recent years, which may be true, but he still remains one of the best overall players at his position. He finished 12th in PFSN’s Impact Rankings last season among all tight ends, which was a down year by his elite standards. This clearly demonstrates just how dominant he has been during his iconic Chiefs career.
