Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders saw action on Saturday as his team took on the Chicago Bears in NFL preseason play. Sanders entered the game in the third quarter after Deshaun Watson got the start for the Browns.
Unfortunately, Sanders didn’t have that good of a showing against the Bears. He fumbled a snap at one point, then threw an interception later in his time on the field. One former NFL defensive tackle thinks it is time for Cleveland to trade away Sanders.
Browns’ Shedeur Sanders Under Scrutiny After Outing
Retired NFL veteran defensive tackle Breiden Fehoko was watching Sanders’ play closely and thinks the Browns should make a deal with another NFL team for the second-year quarterback.
“Andrew Berry, if you’re smart, you trade Shedeur Sanders now while he has value,” Fehoko wrote on X. “After the season, ain’t nobody trading for no Cleveland QB. Especially with the QB class next year.”

Berry is the Browns’ executive vice president of football operations and the team’s general manager. He has been in his roles since 2020, so he’s seen how the team has performed on the field without Watson.

Against the Bears, Sanders finished 6-for-11 passing for 79 yards and 1 interception. Besides Watson and Sanders, Dillon Gabriel also spent some time on the field, too.
Last season, according to the PFN NFL QB Impact Metric, which is measured through the regular season, Sanders finished with a 63.0 grade. The only other NFL quarterback who had a lower grade than Sanders was Tennessee Titans signal-caller Cam Ward.
In his rookie season, Sanders threw for 1,400 passing yards, 7 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He had a 56.6% completion percentage and also had 21 carries for 169 rushing yards and 1 touchdown. He was part of a rotation of quarterbacks for Cleveland last season as Watson remained out of action.
Now, though, with Watson back in the mix, is there another NFL team out there that would take a chance on Sanders? A lot has been said and written about the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders. It’s been a mix of some praise and a lot of criticism.
Maybe Cleveland will reach a decision that spending any additional time on Sanders and waiting to see marked improvement isn’t worth it right now.
