During the Miami Dolphins’ Week 4 game against the New York Jets, superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a gruesome injury that will likely end his 2025 NFL season. This is a huge blow to a Dolphins team that has already been struggling early in the year, and now it remains to be seen how Miami will replace Hill’s production. Which wide receivers could the Dolphins target? Here are some trade and free-agent options for Miami.
Who Could the Dolphins Target at Wide Receiver After Tyreek Hill’s Injury?
1) Odell Beckham Jr.
While Odell Beckham Jr.’s best days may be behind him, the veteran wideout is a free agent looking for a new team. What makes Beckham an interesting target is that he most recently suited up for the Dolphins, playing nine games with the team last season.
The fact that he knows Mike McDaniel’s system and the people in the building helps, but it’s worth noting that his stint came to an awkward end. Also, the 32-year-old caught just nine passes for 55 yards in nine games last season with Miami.
Will the Dolphins call Beckham? Across his 10 NFL seasons, he has tallied 575 catches for 7,987 yards and 59 touchdowns (plus a rushing score). His best years came in New York, where he posted three straight 1,300-plus-yard seasons to start his career.
The New York Giants could also be interested in a Beckham reunion after Malik Nabers’ devastating torn ACL.
2) D.J. Chark
D.J. Chark has been a productive receiver throughout his NFL career. After spending 2024 with the Los Angeles Chargers, he’s still looking for a new team. Chark would be worth a call if the Dolphins want to add depth to their receiving room following Hill’s injury.
While the veteran didn’t produce at a high level in 2024, he had a solid season with the Carolina Panthers in 2023, posting 35 catches for 525 yards and five touchdowns.
The 2019 Pro Bowler can stretch the field as a deep threat, something the Dolphins will miss with Hill out.
3) Diontae Johnson
Diontae Johnson has had his share of off-the-field issues in recent years, but he is undoubtedly the most talented wide receiver available for the Dolphins. With Hill out, the Dolphins could be willing to overlook his past and give him a chance.
Johnson has a strong track record when he’s on the field. He’s recorded 424 catches in six seasons for 4,738 yards and 28 touchdowns.
If Miami can get anything close to the Johnson who starred for the Pittsburgh Steelers, he could be an excellent addition.
4) Calvin Ridley
If the Dolphins want to trade for a wide receiver instead of signing a free agent, they could target Calvin Ridley from the Tennessee Titans.
The Titans are 0-4 and are likely looking to add draft capital. With Ridley not producing at a high level this season, earning a PFSN WRi grade of 64.6, ranking 74th in the league, and rookie quarterback Cam Ward still developing, Tennessee could be open to moving him.
Will the Dolphins be willing to part ways with a draft pick to add a replacement for Hill given their early-season struggles? It seems unlikely, but keep in mind that GM Chris Grier and HC Mike McDaniel are fighting to keep their jobs, so perhaps they make a move out of desperation.
