Tom Brady has had one of the most legendary careers in NFL history, mainly with the New England Patriots. He now serves as an analyst and recently released his updated power rankings as Week 14 approaches. He had high praise for his former team after they improved their record to 11-2 entering their bye week.
Tom Brady Praises Patriots in Week 14 Power Rankings
The Patriots defeated the New York Giants on Monday Night Football last week in a dominant performance. They have now won 10 consecutive games and have the best record in the NFL. This was enough for Brady to give them the top spot in his newest power rankings.
“After a serious drought, the New England Patriots are number one in the power rankings. New England hasn’t played the league’s hardest schedule, it’s actually been the easiest, but this team passes the eye test, and Vrabel had them flying around on all three phases on Monday night,” explained Brady.
The legendary quarterback praised Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel for having his team excel in all three phases in his first year in the new position. Their offense had no trouble moving the ball and their defense gave the Giants problems all game, while their special teams also scored a touchdown.
Brady’s analysis and praise were well deserved, but he notably failed to mention Drake Maye at all. Their new quarterback has been one of the best in the NFL during his second season in New England, including being the current favorite to win the MVP award.
He currently ranks second among all quarterbacks in PFSN’s Impact Rankings, trailing only Josh Allen, his AFC East divisional rival for the Buffalo Bills. Allen is the defending MVP and among the favorites to win it again, though Maye and Matthew Stafford have recently been pulling away from the pack.
Brady instead praised only Vrabel for the Patriots’ topping the power rankings, citing their balance as the primary reason for their success. He is currently a commanding favorite to win the Coach of the Year award, well ahead of Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson, who ranks second in his first year in his position.
Vrabel, a former teammate of Brady’s and a Super Bowl champion with the Patriots, certainly earned the recognition. It’s still interesting that the former quarterback didn’t mention the current one when explaining why he has New England at the top of his power rankings.
