Terrion Arnold was arrested on June 24 on eight felony charges, including four counts of armed robbery with a firearm and four counts of kidnapping, in connection with a February incident in Tampa, Florida. He turned himself in at Orient Road Jail in Hillsborough County, and a judge set his bond at $1 million while denying the prosecution’s request to hold him without bail until trial.
Arnold posted bond and was released from custody, but the Lions wasted no time parting ways with him, announcing his release just hours after his bond hearing concluded. He is now a free agent facing life-altering charges, but according to his legal team, he won’t be without a team for long.
Terrion Arnold’s Attorney Says Three NFL Teams Have Reached Out
Attorney Harvey Steinberg informed the court that Arnold has already heard from multiple suitors. In a written filing opposing the prosecution’s push to require Arnold to wear a GPS ankle monitor, Steinberg stated that Arnold expects to join a new team “within 30 days.”
“Although Mr. Arnold has been released by the Detroit Lions organization, he already has been contacted by three other NFL clubs regarding his services,” Steinberg wrote, according to NBC’s Mike Florio.
The allegations against Arnold are serious, as the prosecutors say he allegedly orchestrated a scheme in which six associates abducted, pistol-whipped, and robbed three men Arnold believed had stolen more than $250,000 in cash and luxury items from an Airbnb rental.

Arnold allegedly watched the initial portion of the incident unfold through a live stream before arriving at the apartment during the ongoing assault, where he reportedly directed his associates to go inside. However, he has denied any involvement.
Arnold played 24 games across two seasons with the Lions, compiling 91 tackles, 18 passes defensed, and one interception. His 2025 campaign was limited to just eight games due to a concussion and a shoulder injury that eventually required season-ending surgery.

According to PFN’s CB Impact Metric, he posted an impact score of 70.7 last season, ranking 90th in the league. Arnold’s production wasn’t elite, but he was expected to start opposite D.J. Reed heading into 2026, and his draft position still carries significant weight in league circles.
Given the severity of the charges, the speed of the Lions’ decision to release him is arguably the biggest red flag for interested teams. Detroit didn’t wait for the legal process to play out, suggesting the organization saw enough to move on despite the hole Arnold’s departure leaves in its secondary.
However, Arnold’s status as a former first-round pick who is just 23 years old, combined with a character letter from Nick Saban vouching for his integrity, could keep his NFL career alive.
For now, Arnold’s NFL future hinges entirely on what happens in the courtroom.
