The Cleveland Browns continue to see their record spiral down the stretch of the 2025 season, and despite making it hard for the Buffalo Bills, they were on the losing end once again in Week 16.
With the team long eliminated from postseason contention, the key storylines for the rest of the year include Shedeur Sanders’ development and Myles Garrett’s case of the all-time NFL sack record.
Terrell Owens Criticizes Shedeur Sanders’ Protection During Browns’ Loss to the Bills
Sanders had another inconsistent game versus Buffalo. He completed 20 of 29 passes for 157 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions.
The Browns actually had a chance to defeat the Buffalo Bills in a game during which Josh Allen was evaluated for a foot injury, but they ultimately were unable to close the deal on their home field.
Sanders was sacked just two times, but pressure from the Bills’ pass rush was constant and he had to move around the pocket repeatedly.
This infuriated former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens, who took to Twitter to express his displeasure with the offensive line, calling the group “trash”:
Watching this @Browns @BuffaloBills game and I swear #68 must have a parlay on this game or something 😂, this guy can’t block the sun. Entire OL is trash though. Frfr
Shedeur can shoot a @Tide commercial after this game as much as he’s been on his back.— Terrell Owens (@terrellowens) December 21, 2025
Sanders finished the game as Browns’ most effective rusher with 49 yards on four carries, as Cleveland’s top running back Quinshon Judkins suffered a broken fibula and dislocated ankle in the second quarter.
The Browns are obviously not a good team, and no one can argue the fact they lack offensive talent in support of Sanders, even if their personal opinion on the quarterback isn’t positive.
Jerry Jeudy, expected to be the Browns’ leading receiver this season, finished the game with just 12 yards on three catches. Their best pass catcher on Sunday was a running back: Trayveon Williams ended the game with 38 yards on four receptions. Cleveland needs to upgrade in a lot of positions to ease the job on its quarterback.
Sanders continues to be ranked as one of the worst quarterbacks in the league. He went into Sunday’s game with a 57.9 score in our PFSN QB Impact Metric, just above Cam Ward, Dillon Gabriel, and Jake Browning. He continues to hold the ball too long and his post-snap process post-snap still leaves plenty to be desired.
But the Browns also did him no favors when assembling this offensive roster. Neither Sanders nor Gabriel have been able to muster much of an impact when on the field, partly due to the shoddy protection.
Even if the Browns’ quarterbacks are part of the problem, not all the blame for a largely ineffective offense can be laid at their feet.
