How Did Aryna Sabalenka and Georgios Frangulis Begin Their Relationship?

Sabalenka fought through a grueling three-set battle against Germany’s Laura Siegemund on Tuesday, rallying to win 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 and secure her spot in the semifinals of the prestigious grass-court Major. Frangulis, a Greek-Brazilian entrepreneur, founded the açaí superfoods brand Oakberry. The connection between the couple began when Sabalenka signed as a brand ambassador for his company last year. This business relationship eventually blossomed into something much more personal.

The Belarusian tennis star previously dated former hockey player Konstantin Koltsov, and their relationship began around 2021. Although Sabalenka had parted ways with Koltsov before his tragic death in March 2024, the loss deeply affected her. During this difficult period, Frangulis emerged as a strong source of support and comfort.

The couple made their relationship public during the Madrid Open in April last year. Since then, Frangulis has become a regular fixture at Sabalenka’s matches, traveling the tennis circuit to support her career. The Brazilian entrepreneur watched her run at the Cincinnati Open and stood by her side during her campaigns at the 2024 US Open. He was also present at the Berlin Tennis Open and now continues his support at Wimbledon.

What Makes Georgios Frangulis’ Background So Unique?

Born on September 9, 1988, in São Paulo, Brazil, Frangulis carries a fascinating dual heritage that shapes his identity. Though he was raised in South America, the 36-year-old maintains a deep connection to his Greek roots, where his family originates.

“I can say we were always a Greek family, in how we see the world, our values, and the way I was raised. I feel 100% Greek,” he told the Greek Herald earlier in February. This strong cultural identity influences how he approaches both business and personal relationships.

Despite completing law school, Frangulis chose a different path for his career. After graduating in 2014, he moved to Florida to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams rather than practice law. This decision led him to build Oakberry into a successful global brand.

Beyond his business ventures, Frangulis has also pursued his passion for motorsport. The Greek-Brazilian has competed in 128 races in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, showing his competitive spirit extends far beyond the boardroom.

How Does Frangulis Impact Sabalenka’s Tennis Career?

For a player competing at the highest level of professional tennis, having the right support system can make all the difference. Frangulis has become that crucial pillar of support throughout Sabalenka’s career, and she clearly values his presence, whether he’s traveling with her on tour or joining her during training sessions.

“His support means so much to me. Being on the road and having him support me, to make me laugh and to be able to workout together, makes life on the road feel more like home,” she said in an interview with US Weekly.

The demanding nature of professional tennis means players spend months away from home, constantly traveling between tournaments and dealing with the pressure of performing at the highest level. Having someone who can provide emotional stability and companionship during these challenging times becomes invaluable.

The couple hasn’t shied away from sharing their life with fans, often posting glimpses of their special moments on social media. This openness shows how comfortable they’ve become together and how their relationship has developed into something that enhances rather than distracts from Sabalenka’s tennis career. With Frangulis in her corner, Sabalenka continues to thrive on the biggest stages in tennis.
