Taking a Closer Look at the Men Behind World No. 1 Jannik Sinner’s Meteoric Rise

Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi are Jannik Sinner’s head coaches. Vagnozzi, a former tennis pro himself, started working with the Italian in Feb. 2022. Darren Cahill, who joined Sinner’s team in Jul. 2022, has established himself as one of the greatest tennis coaches ever.

Largely credited for guiding the up-and-coming Lleyton Hewitt to World No. 1, the Aussie has also worked with other big names, including Andre Agassi, Andy Murray, and Simona Halep. Cahill and Vagnozzi jointly won the “Coach of the Year” award at the 2023 ATP Awards for their work with Sinner.

The World No. 1’s team also consists of physiotherapist Ulises Badio and fitness trainer Marco Panichi.

Notably, the duo had previously worked with Novak Djokovic – Panichi until May 2024 and Badio until 2022. Sinner dropped former trainer Umberto Ferrara and physio Giacomo Naldi after their mishandling of banned substance Clostebol led to his doping saga.

If the 23-year-old beats Novak Djokovic, he will take on World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz in the French Open final.

The Spaniard leads 7-4 in the head-to-head with Sinner but trails Djokovic 3-5.
