Ben Shelton’s Girlfriend, Soccer Star Trinity Rodman, Thrilled at His Long-Awaited Top 10 Breakthrough

Soccer star Trinity Rodman celebrates boyfriend Ben Shelton's historic ATP top 10 ranking breakthrough at Stuttgart Open by posting a story on her Instagram.

American tennis player Ben Shelton made history this week by breaking into the ATP Top 10 for the first time in his career. The 22-year-old reached No. 10 in the ATP Live Rankings after defeating Pierre-Hugues Herbert at the Stuttgart Open, jumping two spots from his previous ranking.

This achievement comes after years of hard work for Shelton, marking a major step forward in his tennis journey. Rodman has been a constant source of support throughout his career since they went public with their relationship in March 2025.

A Look at Ben Shelton’s Tennis Success This Year

Ben Shelton has been building toward this moment all season, starting strong by reaching the Australian Open semifinals. He lost to Jannik Sinner at Rod Laver Arena, matching his career-best Grand Slam finish from the 2023 U.S. Open. The rising star continued that momentum at Indian Wells, becoming the youngest American to reach the quarterfinals since Andy Roddick in 2004.

Shelton’s girlfriend, soccer star Trinity Rodman, showed her excitement through an Instagram story with a post captioned, “BIG BENNY.” Rodman has been a constant source of support throughout his career since they went public with their relationship in March 2025.

His recent win in Stuttgart was especially important for his ranking push. Shelton won the match 7-6(4), 7-5, saving all four break points he faced in the second set and converting his only break chance. After beating Herbert, he secured a semifinal spot by defeating Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-4 and is now set to face world No. 3 Alexander Zverev.

This victory put him in position to officially secure his Top 10 spot when the rankings update Monday. He needed to perform better in Stuttgart than Daniil Medvedev at the Libema Open to guarantee his historic breakthrough. Medvedev’s loss in the quarterfinals to Reilly Opelka cleared Shelton’s path into the Top 10.

Trinity Rodman’s Soccer Career and Support for Ben Shelton

The 22-year-old soccer player has an impressive career of her own. Rodman plays for the Washington Spirit in the National Women’s Soccer League and the U.S. Women’s National Team. She won a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics and earned multiple honors, including NWSL Rookie of the Year in 2021.

The couple went public in March when Shelton posted a photo of them together on his Instagram. Rodman commented, “Shooters shoot I guess,” confirming their relationship. Since then, she has been attending his matches, celebrating his victories on social media, and supporting his tennis career.

Shelton’s rise into the ATP Top 10 represents a huge moment for American tennis. He will become the third American in the Top 10 on Monday, joining Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul, ranked No. 7 and No. 8, respectively.

Shelton’s breakthrough at just 22 years old suggests even bigger things ahead in his career.
