Looking ahead, Paul will face Argentine tennis player Román Andrés Burruchaga in the final of the 2026 U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships in Houston. The World No. 77 also competed in the doubles event alongside compatriot Thiago Agustín Tirante. They defeated the Kazakh pair of Andrey Golubev and Aleksandr Nedovyesov (7-5, 6-2) in the first round, reaching the quarterfinals before losing (7-6(4), 6-4) to the top-seeded pair of Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos.

In the singles event, Burruchaga began his campaign by defeating Adam Walton 6-2, 6-3 in the first round. He then eliminated fifth seed Brandon Nakashima 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 in the second round.

In the quarterfinals, the Argentine overcame third seed Learner Tien, winning 7-5, 6-4. He then secured his place in the final against Paul by triumphing over Tirante 6-1, 6-1 in the semifinals.

Paul and Burruchaga have never faced each other on the ATP Tour. Therefore, their upcoming final match at the 2026 U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships in Houston will be the first time these two players compete against one another.
