Serena Williams’ singles comeback at the 2026 Wimbledon Championships was made all the more memorable with her daughters, Olympia and Adira, cheering her on from the stands.
Taylor Fritz, however, has embarked on his campaign without his son, Jordan, by his side, making an emotional admission about the challenge of balancing life on tour with fatherhood. He became a father at 19, welcoming Jordan with his ex-wife, Raquel Pedraza, in 2017.

After falling short in the semifinals of the grass-court Major last year, Fritz will be determined to go a step further and fight for the Wimbledon crown this time around. He made the perfect start to his campaign with a dominant 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 win over Dušan Lajović to advance to the second round.
During his post-match press conference, the American was asked about the challenges parents face on tour, with Serena Williams’ return bringing the issue into focus. Fritz candidly spoke about the difficulty of being away from his son, revealing that while he would love to bring Jordan along on tour, the decision wasn’t his to make.
“I think for me it’s just really tough to be away. I have to travel and play, and I try to just make the most of the time that I can spend with my son when I’m home, and do the best I can just facetiming and all that. And I would absolutely love to be able to bring him on the road and have him travel with me, but there’s just certain things that are stopping that from happening. So, it’s not really up to me,” Fritz said.

Fritz also spoke warmly about seeing Williams experience Wimbledon with her daughters. The 23-time Grand Slam champion and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, have been documenting their memorable moments with their children amid the tournament.
“I can’t really speak for Serena, but I think it’s awesome what she’s doing. And I see her playing tennis with her daughter, and it’s really cool. I think it’s cool as well if her daughter can come and watch her play tournaments live. I think that’s awesome,” he said.
While Serena Williams’ much-awaited singles comeback at Wimbledon ended in a first-round loss to Maya Joint and a knee injury, she has disclosed her intention to be ready for her doubles campaign alongside Venus Williams.
Taylor Fritz, meanwhile, is set to take on compatriot Patrick Kypson in the second round of the grass-court Major. If he emerges victorious, the No. 6 seed will face either Lorenzo Sonego or Gabriel Diallo in the Round of 32.
