Jack Draper, Taylor Fritz Start Grass Court Seasons Recently

Both players recently began their grass court seasons after competing on the clay-court circuit. Draper had a solid clay season, finishing as the runner-up at the Madrid Open, where he lost to Casper Ruud in the final. He also reached the quarterfinals at the Italian Open, falling to eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz, and made it to the fourth round of the French Open before losing to Alexander Bublik.

In comparison, Fritz managed to secure only three victories across the four clay tournaments he participated in.

Fritz, however, has made a strong start to his grass court season, clinching the title at the 2025 BOSS Open in Stuttgart by defeating Alexander Zverev in the final. He then competed at the 2025 Queen’s Club Championships, where he lost in the first round.

Meanwhile, Draper began his grass court season at the Queen’s Club Championships. He is currently competing at the event and has defeated Jenson Brooksby, Alexei Popyrin, and Brandon Nakashima to secure his spot in the semifinals.

Draper’s string of strong performances has propelled him ahead of Fritz in the seeding status for the 2025 Wimbledon Championships. The top three seeds are World No. 1 Jannik Sinner, defending champion Alcaraz, and Zverev.

With his fourth-seed status at Wimbledon, Draper has become the first British player to achieve a Top Four seed position since Andy Murray held the top seed position in 2017.

Who Will Jack Draper Face at the 2025 Queen’s Club Championships Semifinal?

Following his win over Nakashima in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Queen’s Club Championships, Draper is set to face Jiří Lehečka in the semifinals.

Lehečka started his season at the ATP 500 grass court tournament in London with a first-round win against fifth-seeded Alex de Minaur, 6-4, 6-4. He then beat Gabriel Diallo 6-4, 6-2 in the second round. Lehečka secured his spot in the semifinal with a straight-sets victory over Jacob Fearnley, 7-5, 6-2, in the quarterfinals.

Draper and Lehečka have met three times on the ATP Tour, with the Brit emerging victorious in two of those encounters. Their latest match took place in the semifinals of the 2025 Qatar Open, where Draper prevailed 3-6, 7-6 (2), 6-3. He lost to Andrey Rublev in the final.

The winner of the Draper-Lehečka match advances to face either top-seed Alcaraz, fourth-seed Holger Rune, Roberto Bautista Agut, or lucky loser Arthur Rinderknech in the final of the 2025 Queen’s Club Championships.
