In her Instagram statement, González reflected on how her complicated relationship with her body began after her father’s sudden death.
She explained that as a young teenager, she coped with depression through compulsive eating, gaining 30 pounds at 13 while navigating grief and puberty simultaneously. By 15, she had entered the entertainment industry and found herself under intense public scrutiny.

Every photo, she said, was analyzed and criticized, which deepened what she described as self-dysmorphia. She admitted to becoming consumed with her weight, constantly checking the scale and questioning whether losing more would earn approval from others or even from herself. That approval, she wrote, never came.
Instead, outside opinions only grew louder, leaving her feeling emptier despite her efforts to mold herself into what others expected.
