Serena Williams Proudly Shows Support as Husband Alexis Ohanian Earns Recognition for Championing Women’s Sports

Serena Williams recently celebrated her husband, Alexis Ohanian, after he was recognized for his contributions to women's sports.

Serena Williams recently expressed her support and celebrated her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, after he was recognized for his contributions to women’s sports. The couple has been together for more than a decade, having first met in a hotel in Rome in 2015 and gotten engaged there in December 2016.

Williams and Ohanian welcomed their first daughter, Olympia Ohanian, on Sept. 1, 2017, and married at the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans in November of that same year. They welcomed their second daughter, Adira River Ohanian, in August 2023.

Serena Williams Celebrates As Alexis Ohanian Gets Recognition for Advancing Women’s Sports

Ohanian has been actively championing women’s sports by investing in teams and launching sporting series. He was the founding controlling owner of Angel City FC, a professional soccer team based in Los Angeles that competes in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

Expanding his sporting portfolio in Los Angeles, Ohanian co-owns the Los Angeles Golf Club in the TGL golf league and has invested in League One Volleyball (LOVB), bringing an L.A. franchise that will debut in January 2027 during LOVB’s third professional season.

The tech entrepreneur founded Athlos, a women-only track-and-field competition series, which launched in September 2024. Ohanian also invested more than $26 million to acquire a 10% stake in Chelsea FC Women through his venture capital firm, Seven Seven Six (776), which he established in June 2021.

Recently, American sports magazine Sports Illustrated featured a piece on Ohanian and his investments in women’s sports, highlighting his support for various women’s sports initiatives. The tech entrepreneur took to social media to express his gratitude to Sports Illustrated for celebrating this “second chapter” of his life, focusing on building a legacy in “women’s sports and beyond.”

“Thank you, @SportsIllustrated! I feel so blessed that my second chapter (life after Reddit) would get so big, so fast, and most importantly — be so damn fulfilling. I’m very proud my daughters get to see me building this legacy in women’s sports and beyond, especially in the AI revolution, sports will only get more valuable because we can’t replace the humanity on the pitch, track, court, etc.,” Ohanian captioned his Instagram post.
