American tennis legend Serena Williams and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, maintain a strong presence on social media. They recently showcased a fresh harvest of strawberries they picked from their farm.
Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian Share a Glimpse of Their Fresh Farm Strawberries
Williams coincidentally met tech entrepreneur Ohanian at Rome’s Cavalieri Hotel in May 2015. Their relationship blossomed thereafter, and the two tied the knot in 2017, nearly two months after welcoming their elder daughter, Olympia. Their younger daughter, Adira, an adorable toddler, was born in August 2023.
The couple shares a deep bond and often posts heartfelt moments from their lives through photos and videos on social media. Since 2021, they’ve also maintained a family farm where they grow organic produce, especially tempting strawberries, which they frequently showcase online. On Friday, Williams shared a clip of freshly picked strawberries from her farm, mentioning she will make a shortcake from those.
“Strawberries again, fresh strawberries! And I picked some leaves, some strawberry leaves, because I dehydrate these and make a tea out of them. All fresh from my farm, yummy, yummy. You know what? I’ll actually make a strawberry shortcake, delicious,” she said in the clip.
Ohanian also gave a peek into their organically grown strawberries on his Instagram story.
As mentioned earlier, Alexis Ohanian is a seasoned tech entrepreneur who started his journey by co-founding the social media platform Reddit in 2005.
The 42-year-old currently heads the venture capital firm Seven Seven Six, which primarily backs early-stage startups.
Alexis Ohanian on Finding Balance Between Career and Family Life With Serena Williams
Ohanian has been frequently present in Williams’ corner since they began dating, often attending her matches, including her emotional farewell at the 2022 US Open. However, balancing their demanding careers frequently made spending quality time together a challenge. A challenge Ohanian reflected on in his article for Glamour in 2019.
“When you’re married to the GOAT, the logistics alone can make the act of physically ‘showing up” a challenge. Serena’s tennis schedule takes her all over the world, and my career also requires being on the road, whether it’s traveling to meet with founders, speaking at industry events, or spending time at my venture capital firm Initialized’s home office in San Francisco,” he wrote.
“Comparing calendars isn’t romantic, but at the start of every year, Serena and I map out our schedules so that, ideally, there isn’t more than a week that we go without seeing each other,” he added.
Ohanian shared that he brought Google Calendar to help sync schedules, and admitted that even a day without Facetiming with the 23-time Major champion felt tough.
“I brought Google Calendar into her world so we could see each other’s schedules at any time, which would also make it easier to plan an impromptu call if we’re away from each other—a day without FaceTime is rough when you’ve been away from each other for two weeks,” he wrote.
Even after retiring from tennis, Williams remains active through her investment firm, Serena Ventures, which supports early-stage businesses, particularly those founded by women or underrepresented groups.
The former World No. 1 also owns the makeup brand Wyn, which she often promotes online. Recently, she joined the ownership group of the WNBA’s Toronto Tempo, set to debut next year. Nonetheless, the 43-year-old enjoys quality family time and shares those moments online.
