Emma Raducanu has already turned her attention to the grass-court season, not wasting any time getting back to training after crashing out of the 2025 French Open.
The 22-year-old Brit was recently seen practicing on the grass, tweaking her game as she builds towards a key period of the tennis calendar in her homeland. With the European grass-court swing underway and Wimbledon looming, Raducanu looks eager to leave her mark.
Emma Raducanu Was Bumped Off in French Open Second Round
Raducanu’s 2024 clay-season ended in Paris with a second-round defeat to defending champion Iga Świątek. Raducanu began her campaign at Roland Garros on the right track with a three-set victory against Wang Xinyu 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.
However, the British tennis star was unable to counter the fifth seed Świątek in the following round, losing 1-6, 2-6. The loss was Raducanu’s second consecutive second-round defeat at the French Open.
The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) provided a sneak peek into her preparation by posting a set of behind-the-scenes pictures on Instagram, featuring some of Britain’s tennis stars practicing their grass-court games. Along with Raducanu were other women’s players Sonay Kartal, Yuriko Lily Miyazaki, Heather Watson, and British men’s stars Billy Harris.
“Grass court season is here 🌿😁,” the post was captioned.

Raducanu Dissected How Świątek Played Differently in Their French Open Encounter
Raducanu recently reflected on Świątek’s dominant performance during their French Open second-round match and highlighted the Pole’s signature intensity whenever they encounter each other. At her post-match press conference, Raducanu enumerated which areas to shore up before meeting again.
“It was a really difficult match. Iga played really well, and yeah, it was tough. I think in the beginning of the match it was pretty tight, and then as it went on, I think she grew in confidence, and I just felt a bit exposed,” she said.
“I think every time we’ve played, she plays really well and kind of puts a lot of pressure on from the beginning, and it makes me feel like I have to maybe do something extra, or I just don’t know what to do in the moment. I think it shifts the dynamics of the match a bit, and then it’s very difficult to stay with her as she grows in confidence,” Raducanu added.
