Badosa is currently on a hiatus from tennis after ending her season prematurely during the Asian swing of the WTA Tour due to chronic back pain, which she has been managing for the past couple of years. Meanwhile, the World No. 1 is currently enjoying her time away from tennis after concluding her run at the 2025 Wuhan Open.

Sabalenka also shared a video of the two dancing to a song together.

Badosa last competed at the 2025 China Open, where she won her opening match against Antonia Ružić before she had to retire from her third-round match against Karolína Muchová during the first set due to a left hip injury.

On the other hand, Sabalenka was the three-time defending champion at the WTA 1000 hard court tournament in Wuhan, having previously won the title in 2018, 2019, and 2024 by defeating Anett Kontaveit, Alison Riske, and Zheng Qinwen, respectively. This year, she defeated Rebecca Šramková, Liudmila Samsonova, and Elena Rybakina before losing in the semifinals to the eventual runner-up, Jessica Pegula.

“Paula Badosa Is an Incredible Person” – Aryna Sabalenka

Last year, during a press conference, Sabalenka spoke about her friendship with Badosa. She expressed that she loves the Spaniard, calling her an “incredible person” and her “soulmate.”

“I love Paula very much … She is an incredible person. It is very important to have friends on the circuit, so when you find someone who you feel is your soulmate, it is the best thing that can happen to you,” Sabalenka said.

The World No. 1 mentioned how wonderful it has been to have Badosa in her life, describing her as someone who shares the same mindset and thoughts, and someone with whom she can have fun.

“It’s just an amazing thing, you know, to find someone so similar to you and having the same kind of mindset, same thoughts on different topics and just be able to talk to someone and to have fun with someone. Just to have a friend, that’s really awesome,” she added.

Looking ahead, Sabalenka will next compete at the 2025 WTA Finals, which is scheduled to take place from November 1 to November 8, 2025, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

In addition to Sabalenka, players such as Iga Świątek, Coco Gauff, Amanda Anisimova, Madison Keys, Jessica Pegula, Jasmine Paolini, and either Elena Rybakina or Mirra Andreeva will also compete in the season-ending tournament.
