Novak Djokovic Admits Fatherhood Dreams Now Rival His Pursuit of 25th Major

Novak Djokovic admits his goals as a father now rival his hunt for a 25th Grand Slam as he targets wellness and longevity.

Novak Djokovic recently spoke about the dreams he still has to pursue despite his unparalleled success in professional tennis. The 24-time Grand Slam champion revealed that his ambitions now extend beyond titles, with several professional projects in the pipeline.

He also expressed a desire to contribute to areas such as wellness and mental health, while placing special emphasis on his aspirations as a father.

Novak Djokovic Reveals Dreams and Future Plans Beyond Tennis

Djokovic stands among the greatest players in ATP Tour history, having amassed 101 titles, including a record 24 Grand Slams. He further cemented his legacy by clinching Olympic gold at the 2024 Paris Games, becoming only the fifth player to complete the Career Golden Slam, alongside Rafael Nadal, Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, and Serena Williams.

Despite his wealth of achievements, the 38-year-old still has his sights set on another Grand Slam title and aims to stay healthy to prolong his career, while remaining excited about what the future holds as a player. He shared these thoughts in an interview with Vanity Fair.

“For me, they’re not just about results and recognition. Obviously, I’d like to win at least another Grand Slam title, stay healthy, and continue playing for years to come. But there are so many other things I want to be involved in to observe the changes taking place in tennis: I can’t wait to see what the future holds, and I’d like to see it as an active player too,” he said.

Djokovic stressed his desire to be more present for his children despite constant travel, while also pursuing several upcoming projects. He highlighted wellness, longevity, and mental health as areas where he believes he can make a meaningful contribution in the future. Notably, Djokovic and his wife, Jelena, have two children: a son, Stefan, and a daughter, Tara.

“I have so many plans and dreams, especially as a father: I want to be there for my children’s goals, because I travel so much that I’m often away with them and my wife. Then there are so many professional projects that I can’t wait to share with the world. The areas that interest me are wellness, longevity, physical and mental health. These are areas where I think my contribution is yet to come.”

Djokovic views his children as his greatest supporters, with the duo frequently seen cheering him on from the stands. Earlier this year at the Australian Open, the Serb highlighted the unwavering backing of his family, even though they were not present in Melbourne.

“If I’m at home with my kids, I go to bed early, get up early, and work out. I have more energy and can do more for myself and my family. So if I had to choose, I’d say I love the morning more than the night.”

Djokovic has indeed scaled back his appearances of late. In 2026, he has featured in only two tournaments: the Australian Open and the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells. The Serb showcased his pedigree in Melbourne, reaching the final, his first in a major since the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. However, his hopes of a 25th Grand Slam title were dashed as he fell in four sets to Carlos Alcaraz.

The world No. 3 most recently competed at the Indian Wells Masters, where he recorded three-set wins over Kamil Majchrzak and Aleksandar Kovacevic before falling to 14th seed Jack Draper in the fourth round. The wait to see him back in action has only grown longer, as he subsequently withdrew from the Miami Open due to a right shoulder injury. Notably, he had finished runner-up at the tournament last year.
