Novak Djokovic Makes Intriguing Revelation About His Relationship Story With Wife Jelena

Djokovic recently sat down with renowned English broadcaster Piers Morgan, where he opened up about how he first met his now-wife, Jelena. The Serb revealed that she was then dating one of his friends, who amusingly planned to confess his love to her after a regional tennis match, a gesture Djokovic found “lame.”

“I believe in destiny for sure. She used to play tennis but we never met through tennis while she was playing it, but she dated one tennis player that is a friend of mine from early days. It was funny, because the first time I heard about her was when that friend, who was in the same tennis club as me, played a match in the regional tennis league and we won, an important match,” he said.

“He took out his jersey and underneath the jersey he had a white shirt written, ‘Jelena, I love you. This is for you’’ And we were like, ‘Oh my god that’s so lame, why would you do that?’ And then, ‘Who is this Jelena?’ And it was her,” he added.

The 24-time Major champion further explained that he and Jelena met through mutual friends and had known each other for about five years. One of his closest friends also went to school with her, and their relationship began after he moved to live in Monte Carlo.

“And then she showed up afterwards and so forth, and then we’ve known each other through obviously common friends for about four, five years. And actually, one of my best friends, has been her friend and they went to school together. So we were in kind of a similar, same company, and then we started dating when I went to live in Monte Carlo,” he said.

Djokovic humorously confirmed that Jelena had already split from the guy he mentioned earlier. He added that after she moved to Italy for her studies, they began dating, describing her as the love of his life and the only woman he has been seriously involved with.

“Just to make it clear, please, don’t put me on the spot here! She went to study in Italy and then we started dating, so she is basically the only serious, like long serious relationship I’ve ever had. I had obviously some few months relationships here and there. She’s truly the love of my life,” he said.

Months after getting engaged in 2013, Jelena and Novak tied the knot in July 2014. In October of the same year, they welcomed their son, Stefan, who is often seen supporting his father at matches. The couple was later blessed with an adorable daughter, Tara, in 2017.

Shortly after relocating to Monte Carlo with Novak, Jelena decided to step away from her job at an oil company. She is currently serving as the global CEO of the Novak Djokovic Foundation, a charitable organization founded by the Serbian tennis player and his family.
