Why Did Naomi Osaka Sell Her House Back to Nick and Vanessa Lachey?
Three years after buying the Tarzana mansion from Nick and Vanessa Lachey for $6.3 million, Osaka turned around and sold the property back to the same celebrity couple for $7.95 million, resulting in a profit of $1.65 million on the deal.
This mansion has a unique history. It was originally owned by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the creator of Tarzan, and that’s actually how the area became known as Tarzana. The house sits on two hectares of land, linking it directly to the neighborhood’s jungle-inspired name.
Digging deeper into recent transactions, Nick and Vanessa Lachey, known for hosting Netflix’s “Love is Blind,” first purchased the property in 2020 for $5 million. They sold it to Osaka in 2022 for $6.3 million, and now they have bought it back from her for nearly $8 million.

During her three-year ownership, Osaka put some major upgrades into the mansion. She added a full gym, as well as a recovery center equipped with a sauna, steam room, and massage table. On top of that, she installed an outdoor pool and created a pickleball court, boosting the property’s already impressive amenities.
The house itself features five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a game room, and a media room. It’s located squarely in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles.

Osaka’s journey through the 2025 tennis season has taken plenty of twists and turns as she continues her comeback from maternity leave. Right now, she’s ranked number 25 in the world, proving she’s determined to climb back to the top tier.
So far this season, Osaka has played 39 matches with a win-loss record of 27-12. Even with a 70% winning clip, her performances at the Grand Slams have been a bit of a mixed bag.
Back in January at the Australian Open, Osaka reached the third round but had to retire against Belinda Bencic. Over at the French Open, she suffered a tough first-round loss to Paula Badosa that left her visibly frustrated. Wimbledon saw her make the third round again, this time falling to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova after taking the first set.

The biggest moment in Osaka’s 2025 campaign came at the Canadian Open in Montreal, where she made her first major final since 2022, showing flashes of her vintage form. However, she fell just short, losing to 18-year-old Victoria Mboko in a dramatic three-setter.
Still, Osaka did manage to grab one title this year at the WTA 125 event in Saint-Malo, France. This marked her first tournament victory since the 2021 Australian Open and her first ever on clay courts.
Looking ahead, Osaka is expected to be seeded at the US Open 2025. This means she’ll enter a Grand Slam as a seed for the first time since the 2022 Australian Open, where she was seeded 13th. She’s reportedly set to appear at Flushing Meadows with her new coach, Tomasz Wiktorowski in her corner.
