Anastasia Potapova made history by becoming the first lucky loser to reach a WTA 1000 semifinal, and Jessica Pegula’s streak of making at least the quarterfinals of events finally ended.

Andreeva and Kostyuk battled it out in a thrilling Madrid final, with the Ukrainian emerging victorious. For her triumph, Kostyuk will receive a large chunk of the tournament’s €8,235,540 (US$9,684,500) prize pool.

As the winner of this WTA 1000 tournament, Kostyuk will receive €1,007,165 (US$1,184,269). Andreeva will make €535,585 (US$629,815) as the beaten finalist.
