One of the quarterfinals at the 2025 Hellenic Championships will feature second-seeded Lorenzo Musetti against fifth-seeded Alexandre Müller. Musetti began his campaign in Athens with a first-round bye, thanks to his seeding, and then faced former Major champion Stan Wawrinka in the second round. The Italian had to battle the veteran Swiss, winning 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4 to reach the quarterfinals.
Müller, meanwhile, began his campaign with a hard-fought three-set battle against German qualifier Jan-Lennard Struff in the first round, winning 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (6). The Frenchman then went through another three-setter in the second round, coming back from a set down against Tomas Martin Etcheverry, winning 6-7 (2), 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3).

Musetti vs Müller Head-to-Head
Musetti and Müller have faced each other once before, on the clay courts of Marrakech in 2023. Despite clay being a strong surface for the Italian, the Frenchman won the match 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 and leads the head-to-head 1-0.
Musetti vs Müller Prediction
Musetti’s performances on hard courts have shown growth this year, with the Italian holding a 23-14 win-loss record on the surface. His best hard-court result of the year is a runner-up finish at the Chengdu Open. On indoor hard courts, he has a 5-3 record, reaching the semifinal in Vienna, where he lost to Alexander Zverev.
Müller won a hard-court title this year at the Hong Kong Open in January. Coming into Athens, the Frenchman’s form on indoor hard courts was less encouraging, with first-round exits at Stockholm and Basel, followed by a second-round loss at the Paris Masters.
In his match against Wawrinka, Musetti won 74% of his first-serve points but was broken once. The Italian struggled on break points, converting only one of eight opportunities.
Meanwhile, Müller has played six sets in the competition so far, four of which were tiebreaks. The Frenchman has struggled to make inroads on his opponents’ serves but has excelled in tiebreaks, saving 16 of 20 break points he has faced in two matches.
Musetti is making his final push to qualify for the ATP Finals, which would require him to win the title in Athens. However, after a long and tiring season, Müller could cause an upset if he forces tiebreaks again. Still, Musetti’s motivation to win gives him the edge in this matchup.
Pick: Musetti to win in three sets
