Leylah Fernandez is making the most of her break from competition in the United States. The Canadian tennis star has been spending time with her boyfriend, ice sled hockey player Vincent Boily, and the couple recently enjoyed a date night at the ESPYS in New York City.
The experience proved to be a source of inspiration, with the couple drawing motivation from being in the company of some of the world’s greatest athletes.

Fernandez is having a difficult year on the court, having registered just 12 wins and 19 losses so far this season. On grass, she claimed just one singles win in Bad Homburg and lost her opening match at Wimbledon.
The Canadian, who will be hoping to turn her season around during the North American hardcourt swing, spent Wednesday evening among some of the world’s biggest sporting stars at the ESPY Awards, held at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York City. Fernandez wore a mesmerizing vintage Roberto Cavalli dress, famously worn by Victoria Beckham in 2005. She paired it with a Chanel silver quilted metallic clutch bag.
“ESPYS in NYC was a dream,” she wrote on Instagram, sharing pictures of her and her partner.

Her boyfriend, Boily, called the evening a “tremendous experience,” noting that “being surrounded by so much greatness is incredibly motivating for any athlete.”
Boily is a Canadian ice sled hockey player and a member of the national team. He won a silver medal in team competition at the 2026 Milano Cortina Paralympic Games. He was also a gold medalist at the 2024 Calgary World Para Ice Hockey Championships.

Fernandez made her relationship with Boily official in May this year after the couple’s trip to Rome during the WTA 1000 Internazionali BNL d’Italia. She has been enjoying his support at multiple tournaments since.

On the tennis side, the Canadian star is scheduled to resume her campaign at the Mubadala DC Open (July 25-August 2). She enters the tournament as the defending champion a year after the remarkable run that saw her beat Maya Joint, Jessica Pegula, Taylor Townsend, Elena Rybakina, and Anna Kalinskaya en route to the WTA 500 trophy.
She is then expected to compete at the WTA 1000 National Bank Open in Toronto (August 1-13).
