Leylah Fernandez Jokes She Must Protect ATP Players From Dating Sister Bianca

Leylah Fernandez jokes that she wants to protect ATP players from dating her sister Bianca during a lighthearted Tennis Channel segment.

Leylah Fernandez turned a lighthearted question into one of the most hilarious moments in a recent Tennis Channel segment. When asked which player on tour she would trust to date her sister Bianca, the 2021 US Open finalist flipped expectations with a grin, saying she was not worried about her sister at all. Instead, she joked that it was the players who needed protection.

Leylah Fernandez Steals the Spotlight in Tennis Channel’s “Confession Cart” Segment

The exchange came as part of a “confession cart” feature that has gained traction for showcasing players in a more relaxed, off-court setting. Several notable names took part, including Eugenie Bouchard, Tommy Paul, Marta Kostyuk, Denis Shapovalov, and Ajla Tomljanovic.

Each player was asked the same question, and most embraced the spirit of the game by naming popular and respected figures on tour. Matteo Berrettini, Ben Shelton, Casper Ruud, Hubert Hurkacz, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Jack Draper were among the frequently mentioned picks.

Fernandez, however, took a different route and delivered the segment’s most memorable answer. After a brief pause, she responded, “No one. Honestly, it’s not because I want to protect my sister. I want to protect the guys.”

The comment also subtly spotlighted her younger sister Bianca, who has been building her own profile in the sport. Bianca has balanced her time between the WTA Tour and collegiate tennis at UCLA, carving out a niche as a doubles specialist.

She achieved a career-high doubles ranking of No. 169 in March 2025 and has frequently partnered with her sister at events, including a notable semifinal run at the 2024 National Bank Open in Canada.
