A creative twist on a viral trend put Leylah Fernandez’s playful side on display, giving followers a brief but entertaining peek into her off-court life.

Leylah Fernandez gave her followers a delightful surprise when she transformed a simple Instagram photo carousel into a running punchline built around a popular meme setup. Her post revolved around a recurring fictional text exchange that began with someone telling her, “Saw you in my dream last night,” followed by Fernandez’s playful guesses tied to each slide. Every wrong guess ended with the same deadpan closer: “Wasn’t me.”

Leylah Fernandez’s Playful Carousel Highlights Everyday Moments With a Twist

Fernandez has regularly used social media to share the behind-the-scenes moments that balance her life on tour, often offering fans a closer look at her personality beyond match results. This latest post continued that pattern. Her meme-style photo dump tapped into a trend many fans already recognized, while adding her own creative twist.

Each slide expanded the joke while revealing small glimpses of her routine. In the opening image, she cradled a puppy and responded to the imaginary texter with, “Was I cuddling with puppies?” When the unseen sender texted back “No..,” she capped it with “Wasn’t me.”

The second photo showed her in an elevator selfie alongside her sister Bianca, prompting her next guess: “Was I hanging out with my sister?” Once again, the same teasing “No..” led to the inevitable punchline.

The humor carried into a video clip from a recent date outing, where she was taking on Dance Dance Revolution with full enthusiasm. “Was I absolutely killing it in Dance Dance Revolution?” she joked before the bit closed again with “Wasn’t me.” She wrapped the carousel with a snapshot inside a Lululemon store, a nod to one of her sponsors, asking, “Was I at Lululemon?” and sending fans off with the familiar final line.

“Another year doing what I love most, another year filled with sweat, laughter, pain, wins, losses, flights, new lessons, encounters, and milestones… I actually didn’t want this season to end. Two WTA titles, and my biggest one yet, in Washington, DC. And I love that I did it with all of you guys by my side. Thanks for your support all season long. I’m hungry for more, let’s keep going,” Fernandez said.

The 23-year-old concluded her message by expressing her appreciation to her father and coach, Jorge Fernandez, as well as her team for their constant support. “I can’t end the year without thanking my team – without you, any of that would be possible. My coaches Jorge, Abdul, and Lauren, and my hitting partners, Federico and Jaume. With love, Leylah,” she added.

Fernandez enjoyed one of the strongest seasons of her career in 2025, finishing with a 34-25 win-loss record and earning US$1.65 million in prize money. She captured two singles titles: her first-ever WTA 500 title in Washington, and another at the Japan Open, giving her the first multi-title season of her career and raising her total to five WTA singles titles.
