Katie Boulter Approves Alex de Minaur’s New Look for 2026 Miami Open

The 2026 Miami Open began on March 15 and will run until March 29, 2026. The tournament’s matches are being played on outdoor hard courts at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

De Minaur is seeded fifth at the ATP Masters 1000 hard-court tournament in Florida and will begin his campaign in the second round after receiving a first-round bye. Ahead of his first match, the World No. 6 shared a picture on social media of himself wearing a headband, which is a change from his usual cap.

In his post, de Minaur asked fans for their opinions on whether he should continue wearing the headband. Reacting to the post, Boulter, amusingly referring to herself as the “majority shareholder,” conveyed her “approval,” granting him permission to keep wearing the headband and embrace his new look.

“Majority shareholder approval granted. You may proceed,” Boulter posted on X, formerly Twitter.

In his opening match at the 2026 Miami Open, de Minaur will face the winner of the first-round match between Stefanos Tsitsipas and qualifier Arthur Fery. The Aussie and Tsitsipas have met 12 times on the ATP Tour, with the Greek winning 11 of those encounters. Their most recent match was in the fourth round of the 2024 Italian Open, where Tsitsipas secured a 6-1, 6-2 victory.

On the other hand, de Minaur and Fery have never played against each other on the ATP Tour, so their potential second-round match in Florida would mark their first encounter.

The winner of the second-round match between de Minaur and either Tsitsipas or Fery will advance to face Arthur Fils, Jan-Lennard Struff, or wild card Darwin Blanch in the third round.

On the women’s side of the draw, Boulter kicked off her campaign at the 2026 Miami Open by defeating Jéssica Bouzas Maneiro 7-6(9), 6-4 in the first round. She will face the 17th seed, Clara Tauson, in the second round.

Boulter and Tauson have only met once on the WTA Tour, in the first round of the 2022 Thoreau Tennis Open, where the Dane secured a 6-2, 6-3 win. The winner of their second-round match in Florida will advance to compete against either the 13th seed Karolína Muchová or Camila Osorio in the third round.
